Thanks for posting this. Boy, do I have a lot of stuff to use this on.
Do you think this might be appropriate for re-treating an older tent floor?

Hard to say, they don't give much information on what it takes to apply a coating or how permanent it is. I'm glad to see consumer products coming out next year, be interesting to see how long a treatment lasts. Could be the new DWR treatment of choice if it performs as promised and doesn't cost a ton of $$$.

Nanomaterials freak me out sometimes.

I wonder what will happen the first time someone accidentally ingests some. Die of dehydration?

I wonder about the breathability of fabric treated with this stuff. It looks great, but if it means I stay even sweatier and swampier inside my pants I might pass.

Well, the beauty of good DWR's as opposed to waterproofing is their ability to let water vapor pass though while stopping water droplets.

One of the sweetest things I have seen in a long time...so much potential!

Not so much for clothing, but gear and hardware, no doubt.

I watched this and was amazed, I then showed it to my fiancé and she raised a very good point, how do you wash materials treated with this?

So theoretically this stuff (that the OP linked) will let water vapor escape somewhat? Or, I could actually click on the link and find out...

I took care of your dup post. I didn’t click on the OP’s link so not sure what the deal is but DWR treatments have been around for some time. Yes, they can allow a fabric to repel water yet breath however sometimes people expect too much in actual field conditions.

Hydrophobic, eh? Must be made out of rabid raccoon saliva. Best avoid that. Might turn you into a zombie.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm guessing don't use it on stuff you will have to wash on a regular basis. Jackets and fleeces and whatnot?

If you watch the video, it looks like you might not have to worry about washing it. Seems that everything just runs right off.

Well I watched the vid, and I'm sold (it's worth a shot anyway). I'll do a field test as soon as product becomes available. I've got an old canvas Springbar tent I'd like to try this on. Does it breath like cotton or a garbage bag?

The coating doesnt resist soap and high concentration alcohol. So you can wash items you treat.

Im more interested in the paint. Imagine how much gas you would save by painting the bottom of your boat?

A Condor or TAD soft shell jacket with this coating would be unstoppable! And footwear too! Wonder if it works on leather?
