There was a company that made a usgi canteen style one that was suitable for short field condition. It was the same size/shape of the usgi 1-qt, but it was pliable, and the cap had a filter in it, good for 50-gallons, iirc. I think it was called "Pres-2-Pur", or something like that. Still have mine for emergency uses.

Where are you going that tap water is undrinkable? I don't know much about Bobble water bottles other than the college kids seem to love them, and that they are NOT suitable for filtering anything but tap water. If you're planning to hike or camp, get an actual water filter: Katadyn, Sawyer etc.[/quote]

RAT-5 knife. MORA, I love you but I really needed something bigger/tougher.
2 more Motorola rechargeable CB handhelds. The little yellows ones for the kids failed, they are a joke. My kids are worth $70 radios. The yellow ones have at best intermittent comms.
20 white top rechargeable AA duracells. Thanks for the awesome tip AOW.

Oh, and this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008A7 ... UTF8&psc=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That's right, rainbow paracord.

Glad to help RG. After a few weeks of using them, and seeing how awesome they are at retaining their charge, you see why their so hyped up.

I got a KA-BAR USMC knife (non-ser). It came with a brown leather sheath that has the USMC logo on it so I'm trying to find a plain brown one. Not that I have a problem with the Marine Corps, I'm just not a Marine and I don't want to appear as if I'm trying to look like something I'm not.

I've had one since 1993. And I'm not a Marine. Nobody cares. But if you're concerned, wrap the sheath with paracord.

That's a good idea.

It's more of a me thing. I'm not really worried about what people think, it just feels weird wearing the anchor and globe if I didn't earn it. For the time being it's the only sheath I have so it's definitely going to get used. After a while I'll probably forget about it anyway haha

Picked up a SOL sport ute blanket, some extra chem lights, some pvc to make a couple of ruck frames (med alice) and some extra purification tabs. Next is a Katadyn hiker and a lifestraw for backup.

We bought a new jogging stroller for our 2 month old, to use for hiking and also for a potential bug-out on foot. it came with an infant car seat, so is something we can use every day.

I bought a Tasmanian Tiger large map case. It was kind of an impulse buy. One of my main goals for the summer is to up my land nav game.

I just picked up a GSI stainless steel tea pot/kettle at REI. Earlier in March ordered a BHK Bush pig, their March special.

Powerfilm USB + AA Solar Charger

bought one of these for the bag a few months ago. never really needed it yet.

also picked up a new petzl nao headlamp with extra battery and the power cord extension just in case i want to put the battery packin the backpack or a pocket.the thing is pretty amazing, adaptive lighting patterns, rechargeable, hella bright. the batteries charge with usb so I can use the above solar panel and it uses normal batteries in the battery pack if you really need to.

Last Thursday I ordered the Bob Dustrude 24" Quick Buck Saw and the canvas sack from Four Dog Stove. I received it in the mail yesterday:

Very easy to set up. Once I figured out how easy it was to assemble, I could put it together in seconds. Since it uses a 24" blade, I can easily pick-up replacements at the local hardware store. It cut through a 2" thick vine maple branch with ease. I'll give it a more thorough test in a few weeks out in the woods. Made in the USA in Minnesota. Very happy with this purchase.

Nothing too major lately, mostly consumable items and a couple used knives.

I picked up 500' of paracord on another forum, a used Spyderco endura and Delica, some first aid supplies, and a new pair of keen Targhee II boots. Today I ordered 48 MRE crackers packets.
