Yes from being submerged in 3 feet of river water. I was lucky than most, was able to use the vehicle for a while after the water receeded.

I ended up getting myself a 5.11 Rush 24hr pack and I love it :)...when I was in the Oil field I had a 72hr that they gave me as a field pack and fell in love with it but..it was too expensive for me to own..lucky though on ebay I managed to get the 24hr bag for 80$ free shipping and very well kept brand new condition :D

Santa was extra nice to me this year. I got a sCharger-5 solar charger that was on my Amazon wish list (although I didn't actually expect anyone to get it for me) and a Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival pack. The light and ferro rod are fine in the kit, and the MT is a worthy back-up tool, although it doesn't match my Victorinox Spirit X.

I' ll likely add a goal zero battery charger to the sCharger-5 when funds allow. I already have the eneloop batteries.

The sCharger alone will ensure charging capacity for phones and kindle. I'll post a review once I've had a chance to try it out.

I recently bought a few new items from REI. Just a few small items to replace older items with better ones.

Klean Kanteen Stainless-Steel Wide-Mouth Water Bottle with Loop-Top Cap - 40 fl. oz. grabbed this to be a second water bottle so I can boil water in one, while I have water in another. I already have the 40 oz nonwide mouth Klean Kanteen.
Image

Outdoor Research Dry Ditty Sacks - Set of 3 I needed to get some new drysacks for my clothes and gear, and this 3 pack of small medium and large was a good deal.
Image

MSR Stowaway Pot - 1600ml got this to replace my older stainless steel cookset.
Image

Sea to Summit Thermolite Reactor Extreme Mummy Bag Liner the main item I was going for, a great light weight bag liner to pump up the temp rating on any sleeping bag. This one claims a 25 degree F addition to any bag. While I am skeptical of that much added temp, I think getting a 10 degree addition or more as a huge bonus for such a small size.
Image

6 MSR Ground Hog Stakes I needed to update my tent stakes from the ones that came with my Mystic
Image

4 Small Nite Ize Figure 9 Carabiners I already had 4 of the larger figure 9 carabiners and had to get the smaller ones too. I love these, they are great additions to help with cordage.

Had my first experience with REI returning something yesterday...

My merrell moab's that I bought this past June were running about 1/2 a size too small. Tried to make em work, and um, even wore them for the 3 day milcopp

Told the lady at the desk that I've never returned anything and I feel bad about doing it, and she said park that shit, that's why people like to shop here! No guilt, no bullshit. Went and found a pair .5 bigger, brought em back, paid the $4 difference (on more of a sale last time, big woop).

Now I got this shit that fits. I like me some REI

The gf and I got a Kelty "Sleep Eazy" airbed, queen size. Comes with its own rechargeable inflator/deflator with AC and DC chargers. We will be using it car camping and the coming Zpoc. It has good reviews. Gave it a test sleep and it was great. It's too heavy for backpacking/bug out on foot, but fine for our bug out van and visiting friends/relatives. More comfortable than couch surfing.

Edit: best part is we got it on Woot.com for $80.

I got an 8" cast iron skillet for Christmas (and 3lbs of bacon!), a box of tea biscuits and a Starbucks gift card.
I also took some cash and ordered a Mora Robust. I now have a pack knife I don't mind using. 8-)

Just starting my first BOB and I picked up an ALICE rucksack. Mostly because of the familiarity of it due to the army. Also picked up -4 x camping TP (can never have too much) -4 x LED flashlight -1 Tick nipper (not sure how well it works but it was only about $6) -50 feet of para chord -50 feet of rope -4 x tent stakes -1 waterproof ID/credit card holder. Not much but it's a start and it was all around $40.

Picked up a couple 2-pack ankle supports at the dollar tree to add to the BOBs.
When I die, bury me 8 feet under, so I'll still be lower than all my friends.

I traded a few items today. I love it when I can clear some space in my room, get stuff I can use, and both parties are happy.

Poncho liner, cold weather polypropylene top and bottom (I actually like the two-tone nature, less uniform), 3 MREs (without tomato), Trioxane stove and fuel, 12 wheat snack bread, and a few other drink mixes and such.

Can't wait to use some of it on my next trip!
