As with anything, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Be aware that quickclot has an expiration date, the cheaper it is, the closer to expiration it is. A review on the Amazon seller said he recieved quickclot with an expiration date something like June 2012.

How fast does quickclot go bad? I don't know. I do know that reputable vendors post the expiration date of the lot you are purchasing out of, ebay or otherwise.

On the contrary, from what I've read QuikClot and Celox do not experience any decline in their effectiveness as hemostatic agents after their expiration dates. In fact, one source claimed that there was a slight increase in their effectiveness after the expiration date.

But please do your own research...especially when giving out advice such as this on public discussion board.

I never made any claims about Quickclots shelf life, just explaining why the prices can vary so widely. You may be confident in "some guy on the internet" claims, but the world market for quickclot apparently does not share your confidence being that short dated materials are selling for half that of recently produced materials.

Again, no claims as to Quickclots useful life. Only an observation meant to inform potential consumers before they buy something they may be disappointed with.

...but I guess I will just keep my observations to myself from now on, lest those simple observations somehow be construed as medical lore, or even more dangerous "intarweb fact."

Just recieved my Uniden PRO510XL 40-Channel CB Radio -beware that it does not come with a PA output. I assumed all CB's had a PA output these days.
Still the antenna I bought for this radio was twice as much as the radio-- good deal.

This is a great ferocium rod for a really great price. These are very large - much larger than what the pic shows. And throw a great spark with the included bottle opener $3.15:

Thank you Moab, that seems like a fine deal on the ferrocerium firestarter. I jumped on that one and look forward to trying it out later this spring.

Not sure it'll break me of my Bic mini addiction, but prepping is about nothing it not options and backup plans, right?

These really are nice rods. I paid a lot more for rods without handles or strikers from that one misch(?) ferro rod website. And these are just as good. In fact better cause they have the handle and the striker has many features - striking edge, map measurement, mm measurements, a bottle opener and I still can't figure out what the half mood ridged side is on the end of it. Yay for China. Some things are just better from there. I'm sorry to say.

China is the producer of the rare earth elements used in the ferro rods. Like it or not... china is where all of the material comes from.

5/16 seems about the same size as the old sg ones. It also looks similar to the one that came with my British pattern bcb canteen kit.

No thanks. These guys caved and no longer support any firearm related deals, so I no longer do business with them.

Be aware that Sportsmans Guide has expanded their physical locations and now charges sales tax in many states, which cuts into the savings of many deals.

Ah, groupon...thought you meant Klymit. Sorry, Ive got to choose my battles sometimes, that's why I use Field Notes instead of Moleskine now.

And thanks for another great deal, now I have a pad to go with my dridown bag that I also heard about from this thread. 50% off ftw!
