The Man-Eaters of Tsavo and Other East African Adventures by Col. John Henry Patterson

Free Kindle book

In 1898 Col Patterson was sent to build a railroad bridge in East Africa. Shortly after his arrival two male lions began preying on the work crews. This is a true story backed up by a lot of documentation. The 1996 movie with Val Kilmer, The Ghost and the Darkness was based on this story/book. The books is a pretty good and interesting read. It talks about all the different methods they tried to stop and kill the lions. I don't want to give it all away but in the end the two lions had over 100 confirmed human kills.

Sure most of us will never have to deal with lions but we might need to deal with wild dog packs. In any event its a cool story about surviving against two man eating lions that killed a ton of people, and its free.

Grey Ghost Gear is running a 35% sale.

If you've been curious about their Stealth Operator Pack, the "Kryptek Yeti" (white) is on sale, 20% off.

And yes, both deals stack - I just ordered mine for $65-ish, shipped.

EtA: The sales code for GGG is: preblack35
-----

EtA: Illumination Supply has a 30% special for November on the new Malkoff M61-series of HCRI-2 drop-ins. The series includes: M61, M61L, M61LL, and M61LLL, all in HCRI-2.

With the discount, the drop-ins are $48, normally $69. You can get one shipped for $52.

The beam tint, if you care, is very close to incandescent. I have the M61LLL HCRI-2 in my "around-the-house" light.

Katadyn Hiker Water Filter -- $29 at Gander Mtn

Post by Cadens Call » Thu Nov 21, 2013 5:03 pm

Gander Mountain has a good sale going on right now. Maybe more of a clear out sale than a promotional. But I picked up a Katadyn Hiker Water filter for $29 regularly $80. In Houston on Hwy 59

It's not the deal of the day so I hope it is OK to post, it's on sale for 4 days and is a heck of a good price @ $14.99

You wont build log cabins it but seems decent enough for camp utility work.

Good reviews on you tube.

List $45 Amazon $24 Woot plus $15 I grabbed a couple for stocking stuffers

I'm not a big fan of Dvor, but they are running a good sale on Fenix flashlights.

I picked up a E11 for $20 and a HL10 for $20. The E01 is priced at $10.

As part of their black friday sale items, I just ordered two of the 5.11 Tactical ATAC A1 flashlights from LA Police Gear for $19.99 each and a pair of Mechanix Wear gloves. I had a large enough order that I got free shipping. They also have a November coupon of 5% off to stack on top of that (code=LAPG). http://www.lapolicegear.com/black-friday-deals.html

5 Gallon Plastic water can off 40% off for like $15. A good container, easy to carry and easy to put on a bike. Looks like a blue jerry can and probably fits jerry can holders. Reviews say its pretty rugged.

Scepter makes military fuel cans. These are the civilian version but just as durable. Different spouts though.

A deal on Optics planet right now on Gen III Night vision. Downsides: No IR Floodlight, and no ability to use the unit hands free.
Upside: with the current promo code of BLKFR60, it's a usable, GEN III handheld NVG coming in at a bit under $1500, shipped. For anyone who has ever wanted to play with good quality night vision at an affordable price, I don't think I have ever seen a better deal than this.

Thanks for the 5.11 deal notice, just used it. I usually use Quartermaster or LAPG for my 5.11 stuff, now I'll remember to check their website first.

Sorry for late post (not much time left in the day), but I just remembered I've got a $50 off deal today on my flagship solar lighting system (the LightPortal: http://www.yetisolar.com/products/lightportal" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Code is BCBLKFRI. That's supposed to be just for Bitcoin purchases, but if a few people from zombie hunters use that with other payment, I'll tell accounting to let it slide :)

(that's funny because accounting is me... sorry for the bad small business joke)
I find it uniquely frustrating that so many preppers have their heads in the sand about climate change.

But, I've come to realize there's no point in arguing with someone if there's no possible evidence you could present that would actually change their mind.

Mora LMF fireknife for 18.16 plus 2.50 shipping (total order is 2.50 shipping no matter amount)

$2.50 Shipping! Plus an Extra 30% OFF 22,000+ Items!

They only have the green which isn't my preferred however picked one up. Guessing it will really stand out if dropped.I also ordered a few LMF firesteel 2.0 for 6.96 to help mitigate the 2.50 shipping. The prices quoted are with the keycode so that would need to be applied
