I stopped by the surplus store at lunch and bought two of these to play with. A very good idea AP, and solid implementation.

I agree with DavePal the mags should be on the belt side of the rig. The two I got have ALICE clips on the back, and I will find some way to secure it to my belt. The velcro idea is good too, since the main clip is slow/difficult one handed.
Don't confuse a belligerent and aggressive attitude with the strength, training, and conditioning needed to prevail in a fight. How do you know you have the Will To Win, if you don't even have the will to train?

Good idea! I can use some left over plastic that I cut, and epoxy it to the inside of the spout and use some plumbers putty to seal it--it'll then hold about 2oz of water for show :D

DavePAL84 wrote:I like it. This is one of those ideas where you say to yourself, "Now we didn't I think of that?"

I like the fact that is can hold spare mags too but carrying your spare mags strong side is a bad idea. I'd toy with the idea of cutting the top of the 2qt pouch along the seem that is against your body and attaching it with a couple of snaps or velcro. Seems like it'd be easier to present if you didn't have to undo the clip and then lift the flap up.

Interesting concept, I'll see what I can come up with without destroying the pouch!

DrGonzo wrote:Do you secure it to your belt, or does the bag move freely? Does this affect quick access to your pistol?

Nice rig. Good to see the dead canteen had a useful purpose after all.

dbruce wrote:*Improved*Keep a low profile with 2QT Canteen Mod!

Armored_pig,

Just a quick question.

Are the canteen covers right handed or left handed?

Looks like both in the pictures.

Thanks

dbruce

The covers are right handed, but you can wear it on the left and crossdraw if you are right handed. If you are left handed, I'm sure it can be modded to work..

EDIT: This rig CAN be used left handed, just wear with the opening against your side.

EDIT again: There are 2 alice clips on the plain side of the bag, these can be used to lash the rig to your belt in addition to the shoulder strap

I can see a bunch of people now with canteens on their drop leg platforms. SOB canteens.

Seriously though, I think this is freakin brilliant. Call up Safariland, tell them you have a nifty new design.

Day 2: after getting home from school I took the girlfriend and her new to town cousin out to the mall--no suspicion from anybody whatsoever :D

And thats not to mention the obvious comfort of walking around without an IWB rig!

That is brilliant.

Hidden in plain sight .

Seems perfect for comfortable concealment while hiking, or woods -bumming.

Great job.

That safepacker looks pretty sweet, never seen one until you brought it up and I googled it.. How do you like it?

It seems a bit less bulky than my canteen, but to a person like me, it screams "gun"

I like it a lot, but haven't used it much, yet. I bought it for backpacking trips and bugging out. It does look gun-like to me, too, but apparently not to non-gunpeople. I've heard many positive reviews of it online and no one has ever stated that they were "made".

True, but a lot of things that scream "gun!" to people like us don't have the same effect on the general population.

"Photographer" vests or whatever always scream gun to gun people but most people are just oblivious and think you have bad fashion sense (No, I don't wear one). Same can be said for fanny packs and maxpedition man-purses. The reason I've stayed away from Maxpedition stuff is that it definitely screams gun to me.

Anyway, knowing full well that the rest of the population has no idea, I just can't carry something that screams gun either.

Safepacker looks really nice for use in the car though.

In Oregon, you're not required by law to inform them unless you are asked. I was a little bit shook up since my Jeep fuel pump fuse broke in the middle of the road so I forgot.. He wasn't mad. :D
