The recall comes after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission received two reports of axe heads detaching from the handle of the product.

That thing has a hollow handle, it detaches almost as fast as an escort when your wallet runs dry.

Why does this not surprise me in the slightest?

Good gawd... Those things are utter crap. Though I shouldn't be surprised that Walmart sells them, I'm just disappointed that anyone looking to buy an axe is stupid enough to think this one is good enough.

Don't get me started on their $1 folder they sold up till a few years ago. My only defense: I had to know what $1 could get you in a knife. I HAD to know.

I'm guilty of buying a few of those, but in my defense it was to teach sharpening and proper knife handling to scouts! lol

I was actually wondering why I hadn't seen any of those axes at the local Walmarts in awhile. All the spaces for the axe have been filled with either the machetes Walmart sells or paracord.

To me, those axes always felt like someone took the shaft of golf club and put an axe head on it.

And I'm not surprised they failed, to be honest. I'm just surprised it took them this long to figure it out and recalled them.

I got one of those for my 13th birthdayany moons ago. I wonder if it is all those style axes branded under many names or just a bad batch made for Ozark Trail.

Yeah, it's not a great ax. But I still have mine somewhere.
