MOLLE Assault Packs, adding Sustainment Pouches is ok?

Post by atod » Mon Feb 23, 2015 6:41 pm

Hi Folks,

Does anyone have experience adding x2 500 cubic inch sustainment pouches to the outside sides of their assault pack? I see that that Army Technical Manual mentions sustainment pouches as a add onto the MOLLE II AP. If anyone can comment on changes in the load bearing capabilities before and after sustainment pouches, that is also appreciated.

Thanks again for your help,
Nick

Thats how we used them in Iraq. We had the packs and sustainment pouches loaded with more than we ever needed

+1, they work fine, in terms of attachment. The assault pack is already pretty easily loaded past it's load carrying capability (at least in terms of comfort), though, so with the sustainment pouches added on, care in planning and tweaking packing lists is a good idea.

My very first bug out bag. It blows. No suspension and the weight gets out of control for a shoulder carry bag. Note that the pouches fit perfectly, but it's really a chore to carry unless you're ordered to.
