More importantly I am showing forcasted temps of negative 10 within the next day or so. Guessing it will be cold over a wide area and colder still in the hills. The contest has been extended to last day of winter so don't feel obligated to run out in record breaking temps on our account. Be safe.

Going to have to catch up on my reading in the next few days. Thinking I'm effectively out of it. ER trip and hospital stay for pneumonia and bronchitis. At least I lost over 20 pounds! Lol

Actually looking forward to going back to work next week!

We never got winter. The Iditarod started today, in a rainstorm - it hit 45F today... hard to have a winter camp with little to no snow, and what there is - is mostly slush...

Glad to see others had better conditions.

Same thing down here, hit 65 today. But life just happened with me, really wanted to get out, but of course the first time I am able to get out and go for a little MBO. Is 3 days after this ends  Oh well it's always good to get out.

There is still snow in the higher altitudes, if you have transportation and time to get out in it......

Not gonna happen for me this year: oh well! Just got a new -10 degree underquilt for my hammock too! But, still anticipating who the winners will be and looking forward to getting some Dunamis Gear product into their hands!

I'd have to say that the winter this year has been uncharacteristically mild here in the Great Northwest! In fact, in my 38 years, I have never seen a winter like this here!

Same you guys on the other side always have snow and are below freezing a lot. On the west side we are always a bit more mild but friggin 65 degrees in late feb/early march.... nope nope nope.

My buddy and I will be doing a little loop up near hwy 2. catch the PCT for a few miles, catch a side trail that wraps us back around to hwy 2. we end up about a mile west of where our car will be parked. we haven't decided if we are going to hike the road or take two cars. But it seems like a waste to take 2 cars if its only a bloody mile or so.

It has only been below freezing a handful of times this winter and the only snow was very light and brief in November. Many times the temps were hovering just above freezing at sunset but at sun rise had gone up to as much as 50 degrees (?) So, yes, strange weather this year. If you're going to be anywhere near 3000 ft. or above, you might want to bring some snow shoes if you really want to hike in it. It may be different this year, but it's still early also.

Well I should be ready for next year. Got my stove and a good polled axe. Waiting on the shelter but Wyoming had some injuries and I told him no rush, plus I had some bad luck of my own this winter.

Great entries and it was awesome reading them!

Just to let yea all know we are working on the judging. Also would like to thank those who braved a harsh winter (within many areas) to post an entry. Great job everyone.

After much deliberation the decision has been reached. It wasn't easy given the high quality of the entries. All who entered are winners in my view and that's the honest truth. But in any contest there must be winners. So here they are.....drum roll please!

First place: Modustollens
Second place: On Point
Third place: Blackdog

Congrats to the winters.

Modustollens, truly a winning entry.

Thanks to all the effort put in by the judges and prize givers.

See ya next time.

Oh, no prizes for me, I have way enough junk and a short use by date.
