Alas, yet another mispronounced town... Westminster. people here pronounce it "westminister", certainly not like the city in England. And, thart town has a population of about 2500...

So now that the kids have been rescued yet again the plot can move on.

So, it looks like humans morph into skitters? The preview from next weeks show seem to indicate that the harnessed kids would mutate.

That explains the skitters treating them like their young. The harnesses are parasitic.

And, of course, I must bitch. The people who were giving kids to skitters also murdered Mike and the other two guys from 2nd mass, and they let them all go?

Not on my watch.

I think that was another "Remember who the enemy is" moment. But you made a good point since Pope is again a prisoner. Why him and not the others?

This is what I was alluding to a couple eps ago. Maybe not mutating, but certainly being a host-like that spider that lays eggs in wasps. But, it didnt turn out exactly as I thought it would...but was close.
they need to hire the writers from TWD. And learn their geography...the kid ran 35 miles, within a couple hours??? And brought back reinforcements??? Sorry, I grew up in the town next to Westminster. My mom lives there, and commuted to Acton for work, for 11 years. Driving, its 45 minutes. There arent any back roads, unless you are a local, that you can use. The only route is the highway. Sorry, I know I continue to bitch about this show, but it irks me that such a fantastic show as TWD-well written, excellent cinematography, believable characters-was a "MAYBE" for a 2nd season, and this one-crappy, predictable plotline, shallow characters, and largely unresearched-got the green light after the 2nd ep. Kinda burns my backside....

HAHAHA!!!

I noticed while prepping for the Skitter attack, the 2nd Mass loosely stacked rubber tires on the school roof for a fighting position. Concealment maybe, but cover not a chance. First, there were too many large holes that would allow bullets right through. Second, it appears the Hollywood writers were anticipating the bullets to magically bounce off the tires. I'd like to save some cash having to replace my truck tires every 5 years, so if anyone knows where I can get some of these magical tires please let me know. If the tires were packed with dirt, then it would have been believable.

Also, at the beginning of the episode, Fingerless Gloves Buttwipe Sell-Out Guy was shown escorting the two 2nd Mass Fighters that escorted the kids away from the farmhouse. Later during the eposide, Pope found these 2nd Mass fighters shot dead right next to the farmhouse. Did Fingerless Gloves Buttwipe Sell-Out Guy shoot the 2nd Mass Fighters near the farmhouse? If yes, wouldn't everyone at the farmhose hear it? If no, why would Fingerless Gloves Buttwipe Sell-Out Guy drag the 2nd Mass Fighters' bodies back to the farmhouse? Why not leave the boddies in the woods so they can't be found?

Darabont got a Golden Globe nomination right away. TWD got off to a good start because he knows where this story lives. Spielberg mainly is a family guy. His angle is kids. So his story here is about the families and kids especially. It is like E.T. only if E.T. is putting parasites on your kids.

"Family friendly" mixes with "end of the world" exactly nil..... I would like to see Cormac McCarthy's version of this show.

Agreed on both points. The mutation makes so much sense, but I also think that only some of the kids might be ABLE to mutate. The parasites heal and improve the host, thus making them superior and "up to par" with what the skitters expect. Obviously Rick is heading in that direction, and to be honest, I've suspected that he is connected to other skitters. Ben might be too, and perhaps playing it off to gain his family's trust ever since he made his "I kind of miss them like a family" comment. I could see that being a great plotline.

My primary complaint-- is there are too many commercials!

I stopped watching several weeks ago. For that and other short comings of the show.

My wife watched last night (on-demand, speed through commercials) and she used the time tracker to document approximately 21 minutes of advertising.

Sorry network, I can't stay interested with that.

Back to my Netflix.......

Anyone else get pissed every time Noah Wyle sweeps someone with the muzzle of his ak? you could make a drinking game out of it. "Sweep! Take a shot!"

In fact, here are a few suggestions for starting rules.

Note: Please drink responsibly or stick to fruit punch.

Someone flashes someone else w/ the muzzle of their weapon and doesn't apologize or duck because said person is about to smash their face in - 1 drink
Someone aims or fires a weapon w/o using the sights - 1 drink
someone calls a "magazine" a "clip" - 2 drinks
Noah Wyle sweeps someone with his ak muzzle - 2 drinks
a firearms violates the laws of physics and does something firearms cant do - 3 drinks

suggestions?

That would be almost as dangerous as the Walking Dead, everytime the magnum revolver is aimed in an angry, yet useless fashion....

EDIT; double shots everytime he gives up his weapon and puts his hands up....

I really wanted to like this show. I had high hopes that with Will Patton it would manage not to suck. Be the Alien invasion counterpart to TWD and all that.

But this one is full of fail.

I mean are we really supposed to hate the survivors? Because that's the effect I get.

Maybe AMC should make an alien invasion series and run it in the half of the year TWD isn't running. We could have some Battle: Los Angeles action like capturing aliens and ramming knives into their bodies to see which organs are critical. ACTUAL MILITARY GUYS surviving (how novel would that be?). Maybe some Abrams, Apache and A-10 action at least in the beginning. Couple nukes going off in the distance.

How about combining the zompacalypse and alien apocalypse into one with zombies being an alien modification to make better worker drones?

Anything would be better than a group of so called survivors/freedom fighters who appear to be on their vacation due to their absolutely nonchalant behaviour.

I'm done with this show.

^I couldn't agree more ^

I thought I would stroke when the kids were making their escape and they went into the house to rest.

The little dippy girl (which I've come to loath) started playing the piano!! You're hiding from people and you start playing the piano, making noise!?

It's like one minute they are fighting for their lives and the next they are just out for a walk.

Tonight ought to be fun. It's only a matter of time before Mike's son Rick leads the skitters to them. Then there will be the mistrust around any kids rescued.

Then, there may be the issue of we can't kill skitters because they might be our kids?

My gf came over to watch it with me (ie throw shit at the TV) and she said she would have just left their asses cold. I would have gone with her. Left those idiots where they were.

See, I think this show could have even benefitted from some friction between the survivors on that level. One guy could say "Hey, I think we should keep going" and the other says "No way, it's time to make some sandwiches, bitch!" They argue, break some lamps, kids cry, and then they split up and leave. Only like 2 or 3 of the group leave and keep moving. Meanwhile some mechs heard the ruckus and come and shoot the house up killing everyone inside. After they leave the bad guys show up and realizing they have no more kids to give to the aliens per their deal, decide to make a run for it before the aliens track them down. On their way they run into the mechs are are turned into a fine red mist. Then the 2-3 survivors get back to the 2nd Mass camp with a harrowing story. And then the leader guy can make the next move.

It's like a game of chess. That's what they call drama, folks. Instead, we get checkers.
