A Yank in Libya

No this is an about that college student who spent his spring break in Libya fighting with the rebels. Amazon prime has bundled together eight 1-hour movies under the heading World War II Saturday Matinees.

This is the third movie in the collection. It is stupid and funny.

In the beginning of The Three Amigos the heroes are offered to shoot a new film, One of the producers says “we’ll go down to Baja and shoot it in three days”.

This movie must have been shot in two days.

The plot, such as there is, regards an American newspaper man discovering a plot by the Nazis to foment insurrection by giving guns to the Arabs. The hero of the movie is a walking cliché of matinee leading men.

The real gem is a comedian I have never heard of Larry Eisenstein, who rose to fame with a faux Greek comedic character called Parkyarkarkus.

If you look closely you can recognize a young Duncan Reynaldo (Cisco Kid) as one of the sheiks.

This little time capsule was produced by the Producers Releasing Company, know derisively in Hollywood as “Poverty Row”
Priests and cannibals, prehistoric animals
Everybody happy as the dead come home

Big black nemesis, parthenogenesis
No-one move a muscle as the dead come home
