Thanks for sharing this! It's awesome to see all of this information in one space. I have a SOL Emergency Bivy in my GHB. It's one of those items that I hope I never have to use by itself.

I've always wondered if it really works, or if it's something I threw in my bag because its light and better than nothing. I'm pretty certain it would be fine during the summer and fall. During the winter, I would probably have to run the heater in my car for 10 minutes each hour if I have to spend the night in the bag.

Does anyone else have any experience using the SOL Emergency Bivy?

You are most welcome!

I've not used the SOL bivy but I have:

- North Face Goretex bivy with a hoop at the head that I used a lot in snow at altitude instead of a tent.
- Black Diamond ultralight Winter bivy made of Epic fabric. Not really meant for rain About 0.6 pounds so perfect for an emergency.
- Mountain Hardwear bivy made of their original Conduit SL fabric. About 1 pound
- US Military Goretex bivy sack in woodland camo. Used it in the rain once and kept me dry.
- Ecotat military Goretex bivy. Woodland camo. Can also serve as a poncho. Used it a lot in the Sierras

The lighter ones (BD & MH) stay in packs for emergencies

I have been looking at the USGI Goretex, but it's more of a want than a need. I have a sleep system carrier on my MOLLE 2 ruck/frame, but I use it for a sleeping bag and small air mattress. Plus, I'm the self-designated tent carrier for my family. I can't really just unfold a bivy bag, zip in, and just say "Welp, sucks to be you," to them.

This is a great collection of reviews. Thanks for that! Need to check them out more carefully when I've got some time.
