Original vs Remake of Dawn of the Dead

I feel I might be in the minority here since I prefer the remake. Its the only remake of the series worth a damn though, imo.
The celebrity shooting game off the rooftop ,the Zed baby and the ending were pretty entertaining, imo.

I like the beginning of the remake( when the s goes down) and the extra credits(Andy's gun store) from the remake more, but as a total package I like the original most. If you didn't watch the edited scenes and behind the scenes footage of the remake you missed out.

1978 version all the way. It was a game changer, elevating the zombie genre with biting social commentary. Situating it in a shopping mall and having a field day with modern consumer culture was a stroke of genius.

Original, because that one was a bit detailed in the customization and fortification of the mall for survival, and used the legacy zombies. The new one is fun, with fast zombies. I did love the part where Michael decides that a croquet mallet is a better melee weapon than a crow bar.

The DVD had a whole Andy's Gunstore backstory IIRC.

Both were great, but the original has the clear edge. Should have gone with the alternate ending on the original. It was sad to see them make it in the end.

They really liked their .22LR's in the original....even the SWAT guys' M16's were .22's. Since the remake was a 2004 movie, at least the 10 round Glock mags were AWB-period correct.

I'll have to find a copy of the original and watch it again, it's been a very long time since I've seen. I do really like Marcellus Wallace Vs. The Evil Dead though.

Is The original DOTD where the zombie biker cliche came from?

I don't know that cliché, but the Mall got raided by human bikers in the original IIRC.

Usually when people are being snarky about preppers they bring up "zombie bikers" I never understood it either.
