Nope, not an update --- just me. ~~ Well, even after a full re-read this is still one very awesome story - I could have read it on her blog but like feeling connected to the other moar zombies on here. I stay on top of all her stories on Kathy's blog here: http://motherhensstorytime.blogspot.com/ and she is not only very talented, but very busy with all that is going on in her life ~
Meanwhile, lots of other goodies to read! :)
I came for MJOTZY, but I stayed for the company.

This story should be made into a tv show or movie. It so blows Walking dead/ Z nation out of the water. Kathy if you ever finish this story. I'll be there to read it. You truly are a magnificent storyteller.
As of now I bet you got me wrong

It would certainly make a great TV series. I think we can give up hope this will ever be finished. The writer seems to have lost momentum and I doubt it will ever be revived. What a pity it was never brought to a conclusion. Still, it was a great read while it lasted.

Have a cookie or two while you wait, we have plenty to go 'round!
Choice of Peanut Butter Butterscotch Chocolate Chunk, Almond Shortbread Leaves or Gingerbread Monsters.
Have teas of all kinds, and Guatemalan coffee.

In case anyone is feeling a bit peckish this month;
the main menu is beef stew, but we also have peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies and these caramel frosted brownies.

IT'S NOT AN UPDATE GUYS!!! Sorry for getting your hopes up.

But my husband's... (friend of a friend? colleague? professional acquaintance? I dunno, writers tend to go to a lot of the same conventions and know each other anyway?) Naomi Kritzer (who is a neat person) wrote this story that he thought I'd like. He was right, and it made me think of MJOTZY.

There are no zombies, and it is not nearly so long, but I thought it might be an acceptable distraction. THERE ARE RECIPES! Really, you should go check it out.

  Yup, I saw MFOTZY had a post and I scrambled to click here.

Thanks for the new reading material that might give the taste of and maybe distract me a bit from always longing for moar. Going there right now.

[EDIT]
Bird flu? Well crap. No wait, I can't find a date on her blog post. Is this an old posting?

Anyway I googled bird flu and it 'is' in the news right now so I don't know what to think at this point. :)

I had the same confusion!

SPOILERS (for the short story)
Which I shouldn't have - Clarkesworld is an online science fiction magazine. There's no date b/c this is a 'future' h5n1 outbreak, she's telling the story via the cooking blogger. Which would probably be a real baddie! My issue with the story is it's pretty hopeful in how it turns out, but then, she was writing for mainstream sf (and it makes me giggle to call SF mainstream) and not zombie apocalypse enthusiasts, we tend to be pessimistic grim bastards about our stories. Ok what are the eyes?
Because I'm not going to lie, my first thought was "Those plastic googly eyes would melt in the oven..."

My second thought was "wow brain, you have NOT had enough coffee to come up with something that stupid."

tried my best to find a picture of the walls from the gorilla cave in Congo to reply to the eyes with. Alas my search-fu failed. You'll have to imagine a witty picture and meme <HERE> :)

It's the monthly feeding of the cookie monster zombies.
Christmas sugar cookie cut outs, the houses are chocolate. Butterscotch fudge, and flower buttermints.
Chip cookies... with chocolate chips and peppermint bark in the dough.

(There are also platters with chocolate fudge & coconut macaroons, but we didn't get clear photos.)

Anybody know what's happened to "Kathy in FL"? Her main blog hasn't been updated since Sept 7th, at the time she had made a couple of posts about discovering that she was diabetic. Since then there hasn't been anything anywhere.
