Because I missed having a .45 and i also needed an FDE VP9 to be operator. And a USP9 just because. Oh and the MK25 was meant to be sold off. The M&P was just too good a deal to pass up and is one of my get home pieces.

First purchase in a long while. NAA Super Companion Cap and Ball. Will be trying it with Red dot this weekend as I have read they perform very well with that as the pea-shooter power source.

Need to make him a holster...

My S&W Model 41 .22LR My father gave this to my grandfather for Christmas one year but my grandfather insisted it was too nice and instead carried a .22 revolver on his hip to dispatch the animals he hunted/trapped. I think my dad, a union man, purchased it during a heavy layoff winter in the late 60's - early 70's, thus the $68 price tag took most of his unemployment check for one XMas present. When it came to me it was still in the original box so I keep it that way, original paperwork and receipt. Purchased at the town hardware store, back when towns had them. All of my kids learned to shoot with it before moving on to bows. There might be some glare in the photo but there are no current aberrations; I maintain it in mint state. Funny thing is that with this model, if you concentrate on the first shot all of the others tend to follow its path.

Per the thread rules, a few odds-n-ends I've inherited...

A poor 1918 Colt M1911 that someone molested. At least me and the Old Man gave it a second life at the local bowling pin matches when I was a wee lad.
Image

.45 Colt/.410 American Derringer.
Image

Fo-Fo Deagle. Pulling back the slide and chambering a round was a feat of strength for a teenybopper.
Image

.44 Redhawk with an antique (but still working) Tasco illuminated 2x scope.
Image

KG 99. Fun for shooting cans at the local dump, and the occasional armadillo.

Got my GA Precision back from Nighthawk after having an ambi safety fitted...damn I forgot how sweet this pistol is as a shooter, even when doing speed drills. Effortless gaping 50-round holes at 5-15 yards.

Image

Put my .45 can on and walked it up the paper on different POAs, with the last mag shooting at the vertical hash mark between the 7 and 8-rings out at 25 yards...really shows my propensity to push my shots to the left at that range, even with a gun this good.

Man I love this pistol; makes me want to be a better shooter!

Looks like I’m a one-trick pony around here lately. Challis grips finally finished and arrived yesterday. Just test fit here because the bushings/grip screws are just a tiny bit too long for these mammoth tooth grips, but you get the idea:

Image

Image

Pics don’t do these justice...absolutely beautiful in the hand, and in direct light. Too large to post here, but here are a couple links to larger pics with better detail:

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-2CP ... DdW-X4.jpg

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-vzJ ... WWk-X4.jpg

These grips are reinforced for actual shooting, but methinks I’ll put the stock VZ grips back on for extended range or training use. Will get some slimmer grips when the new slim grip bushings and grip screws get here though:

Image

And it looks like I’m one of his last customers unfortunately...at least until the custom gun community can convince him to go back into this line of work. He let me know he was getting out of this business after he finished his current orders, and it looks like he’s no longer taking orders.

Too bad...these are stunningly beautiful pieces of functional art.
