Help Finding a book

Post by ImNtUrBuddyGuy » Tue Apr 28, 2015 6:58 pm

Hello everyone,

I do not post here much but I need some help finding a Science Fiction book. Someone described the book to me several years ago but I never got the title (or forgot). But it always caught my interest.

They described the book as a religious/sci-fi based book were events duplicate a Biblical rapture or Alien Invasion. In the book several events happen:
-The dissapearance of millions of people
-The appearance of stange creatures, described by some as aliens or by some as demons.
..And the rest I forgot about. (sorry)

These events lead people to fall into two camps:
(1)People who all these events are a sign from heaven and the end is near.
(2)The ones who believe they are aliens and Earth is being invaded by aliens.

So can you guys help me find this book? I figured it might be right up the ZS alley.

Thanks in advance!

Although there are some parallels to L. Ron Hubbard's works--I don't think Tom Cruise is one of the monsters in this book.

Battlefield Earth??? I mean, since we are talking Hubbard's stuff. Let me tell you, the movie was phenomenal (sarcasm... I mean, a lot of sarcasm).

OP, the original book you desribes sounds pretty interesting.

Yeah, I am very intrigued by the premise, seems very interesting.

I have searched high and low (on google) using as many search terms as I can--no good results.

Perplexing

...Unless the guy made it up, then I have a great idea for a best seller on my hands!! :D

Go for it, apocalypse fiction is big now, thanks to hit TV shows about crazy people.

I wonder if you search related books to the Left Behind series. I know in the 90s and early 2000s, when the Left Behind books got big, especially with Y2K and crap, there were a lot of spin offs and knock offs. That era might give you some clues

Kinda sounds like the novelization of "V" but I could be making that up.
Opinions subject to change in light of new information.

Sounds sort of like Childhood's End, by Arthur C. Clarke

Some info on the book at:

Again, some parallels but the plot doesn't really fit with what was described.

Looks like we might be at an impasse, I might have to give up my search. :(

Never read "Left Behind" but from what little I know, it is a straight religous based book with no alien plots involved.

Plus "Left Behind" is a series, I believe this mystery book is only a single book.

I skimmed through tvtropes, so you don't have to.

The closest I found was a summary for a short story titled "If the Driver Vanishes..." From what I can tell, the ending confirms the alien theory. That's the most info I could get. Bing searches for the title only turned up articles on real-life car accidents.
