Almost half way through it. I like it more than Kubricks movie adaptation. I love the movie in its own way though.

Anybody else read it?

Yup, good book. I like it better than the movie, but not by much.

You realize he's written a sequel, right? I'm going to listen to him speak in Boulder next week--and getting a free signed copy. :D

Called 'Doctor Sleep'.

I finished The Shining yesterday. It was really good. I'm kind of glad that The movie was WAY different, because if they tried doing it by the book, and leaving certain things out, or just mucking it up, I would have been more upset.

That's awesome. Once you've read it, please let me know how it was.

If I ever find the time, will do.

I should correct my earlier post--I get a free copy, for sure, but they are distributing 250 signed copies randomly among those.

Maybe I'll get lucky. ;)

I read the book and quite a bit later watched the movie. I almost couldn't finish the movie because the mother character annoyed me so much with how whiny she was the whole time.

VERY cool talk, AND I even got one of the signed copies! Sweet, dumb luck.

Wendy was COMPLETELY different. Disgustingly different.

I think The Shining is one of King's best. I'm re-reading it to prepare for reading Dr. Sleep.

I was disappointed with Kubrick's adaptation. It was a mess in terms of what caused the issues with the hotel.

I need to buy The Shining and do that exact thing. I pared down my King collection a long time ago, but I never have owned that one. My brother did, and who knows what happened to it (not a very booky guy ;)).
