Train wreck? Naw dude, it's Sig's new coil gun they've been working on

No lie that is a coil gun and some one just slapped on grip panels from a Sig I am guessing, pretty well done piece.

this is actually a handmade coil gun. and it's probably the most powerful portable coilgun i saw in my entire life. note: it's ACTUALLY portable.

You realize if they ever shrink the caps, decrease cap charge cycle time, and develop a reliable feed system that thing is going to be the SHIT! I wonder whatever happened to that kid in Russia that built one and won all those awards

Definitely a step closer to useful magnetically-powered small arms, though. Very cool.

It's a play on the US Military's nomenclature of M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.... aka the SAW... aka Chain Saw. They did it as a gag product for the SHOT Show. I held it. It's heavy, useless, and I want one. Would make cutting down trees much more fun.

Mossberg actually saw that and they are actually marketing and selling this piece of crap.

that more a range toy than anything. and it was made with the theory that hips shooting is less hard with the recoil than shoulder shooting. to know if it's true that up to you. i admit that i had lot's of fun hips shooting when i had my 870 shorty

I kinda like it as a carrying option, in the same way that I like the handle on an M16, but I don't shoot from the hip so I'd never use it like that. Plus it's too far forward to ballance it like a carrying handle.
Where'd my oh there it is go?.... Dang.

I always had the theory that you hold it like a battering ram, slam it against the side of a door, and use it to breach.
Still, super stupid.
