Aimpoint 9000L on an AR?

Post by GeneralDiscontent » Tue Feb 09, 2010 8:24 pm

Hey all -

Midway is having a pretty good sale on the Aimpoint 9000L - I've been shopping for an optic for my flattop AR, and this caught my interest. I know this is one of their "hunting"-style scopes, but would there be any major disadvantage to using this optic on an AR? I did a little research, and it sounds like I can get 1/3 co-witness with some extra-high rings, or a cantilever mount so I have more room for my BUIS...

It looks a good bit longer than a CompM2. You may want to go with a mount that supports the front and rear of the sight, like one of those P.E.P.R. mounts from Burris.

Functionally, it would work just fine.
