I searched to see if this had been posted, since it's 3 years old, but didn't find anything. If this is a duplicate thread let me know and I'll kill it.
Just some good old American overkill.

Great post. A poor man's elephant rifle. I sure do not want to be on either end of that projectile when it is shot.

My only comment is that solid lead slug will like simply flatten itself and not penetrate if it encounters say an elephants skull. You need a solid round to get the most out of this monster.

I've always thought it would be neat to cut a 12g bolt gun down to 18.5" and slap a red dot on top of it for shooting slugs.

It's been posted about in numerous other threads but I don't think we've had a thread dedicated to it.

It wouldn't need to penetrate the elephants skull, it would just knock it out cold, and you could go up an cut the elephants throat or what not.

Nice site you have here, and I'll be glad to pass on all the info
to you guys from our experiments on 12GA FH and other big bores.
We've worked on stuff clear up to 4 bore, on 8ga, hopped up
regular 12ga and 10ga plastic case loads, and long brass 28GA FH.
First picture is my Savage 210 bolt action 12GA From Hell that fired the
slug that atomized that 6gal pail of water. Second picture is the
12GA FH case on the right compared to a regular 12ga case, which
by the way will fire in same chamber. We made that case by
putting a rim on BMG brass and fireforming. Third picture is the 12GA FH
in my long barreled NEF Ultra Slug Gun. Fourth picture is the real fun
gun, my 700HE, that can get over 20,000 ft lbs.

I am betting since it is offically in 12 gauge that states where .50 might be illegal you could own one of those no problem...

And yes, I would expect that to work nicely up to medium size dinosaur. Should there be a case of zombie dinosaurs, you'll be set.

It reminds me of the movie "Tremors." Dang I don't want to fire anything that big without a shoulder pad, a bipod and a big muzzlebrake.

so can you shoot theses out of a regular 12ga or do you need a custom barrel of some sorts?http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =132358862 Would think about upgrading it converting it but then again It was my first gun would be nice if I could even get a custom 5 shot mag or the likes.

You will most definetely need a new barrel, and even that will only work on a few guns, namely very overbuilt ones with either an extremely strong receiver or a very strong bolt that locks directly into the barrel.
