Complete AR-15 rifles brand new for 399.99

Post by chrisw » Tue May 05, 2015 4:00 pm

Guys and gals it's been a while since I was here but I thought this group would benefit from this. I remember people (me included) always looking for quality functioning AR's for cheap and my daily deal email from palmetto state just came in and they are selling either PTAC or Del-ton complete rifles for $399.99! I personally would go for the PTAC between the two but I already have an AR I put together. Simply want to share as I remember when the cheapest rifles out there were still 800+ and colt 6920's were close to 1300. I personally don't own either a deltona or the PTAC but I have seen good reviews on the PTAC and a friend bought one and loves it. With this deal you could be under 500 including transfer, shipping, and a rear sight. Kind of a steal.

Yup... These are the good old days as far as AR parts/complete rifles go.

Even higher end stuff is pretty cheap right now.

This is the time to put away BCGs, triggers, magazines, spare springs, etc. or even complete rifles.

And here I was, thinking I was done buying guns for a while...... Thanks, you basically just dangled a rock in front of a crackhead.

Edit: Are they sold out?? I can't find anything for these mythical $400 ARs on Palmetto's site...

This was one of their daily deals. If you are an AR fan I can't recommend their, "daily deals" enough. That's where I got the majority of my stuff from. They have good prices but following the daily deals is my daily gun pron. sign up somewhere on the website and they may be out this time but future deals happen often. Arfcom has a couple guys selling stripped lowers for $50 each so you can grab one of those and just wait for a cheap rifle kit and build your own. That's what I did and I love my rifle. Lots. Just gotta get an optic and it's done. My girlfriend and I learned how to put together a rifle using youtube and basic tools. It's really pretty easy.

Send or post your email and I will forward you the email with the 399.99 rifles.

Now that the latest ammo panic seem to be over, and the weather is getting nicer I have been going to the outdoor range and shooting some of my old stock and refreshing it with new ammo.

I had a box of 9mm WWB 100 round value pack and a 550 round box of .22lr out and the guy shooting next to me leaned over and asked me where I got the ammo. I said Walmart, and he must of asked me 3 times which Walmart and where it was, then he packed up and left.

I went back to shooting, and when I switched from the .22lr to my 9mm I realized the price tags on the ammo. $8.99 for 100 rounds of 9mm and $9.99 for 550 rounds of .22lr. I probably bought them some time around 2004-2005ish

Wow that's crazy cheap. Ya I miss the ammo prices but at least the AR is an everyman's rifle now. People used to buy kel tec or mini 14 as a cheap .223/5.56 alternative rifle now there is no need for that anymore unless that is what you prefer. Full cold hammer forged barreled and mil spec rifles/rifle kits are half what they used to be.

Well, checked the daily deals and wound up buying a fair bit of ammo... Cheap .45 range ammo plus some 62gr barrier blind 5.56 (couldn't find this anywhere last summer!) as well as some .308 130gr SOST ammo.

Y'all may want to check this: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.ph ... n-bcg.html

Smokin' deal on a NiB coated carrier and bolt... Seriously thinking about buying one to replace my primary spare BCG at that price.

Uh oh. Looks like I just made another PSA addict. Dude, the daily emails are my gun porn. This company has amazing prices nobody can equal. All the way from entry level complete AR's to full mil spec uppers or rifle kits. palmetto state is the spot for great deals ammo/ar/anything awesome. Beware shipping times are shit and customer service is one of the worst in the business but you gotta compromise somewhere for the money. I love these guys.

I have been buying/building from PSA for years.

Over Easter I bought a $350 PTAC build kit and added a $60 Anderson lower. After shipping and tax it came out to exactly $450. I didn't think it could get cheaper than that. I guess I was wrong.

Makes me wonder if we will ever see rifle kits for 299 on Black Friday sales or 4th of July or whenever they do their best deals. That would be nuts. How do you like your PTAC rifle? I have heard they are good to go. I saw on Arfcom that there was a company selling 5 packs of Anderson lowers for $199.99. That's 40 each! I just bought a handful of Aero Precision lowers for $55 each myself.

Having a complete rifle under 600 used to be incredible. Now it's being done under 500. Under 400 with shipping and everything included would be unreal.

Honestly I haven't shot it. I put a UTG 'Match' sight on it and put it in the safe for an extra AR. It went together good, so I am sure it will be fine when it does get taken out. The quality was good, nothing obvious out of the ordinary.

I was just fixated on the $450 price point, I didn't need another AR. But at that price I felt I would be stupid not to buy/build it.

Ya I will definitely save up for the next Black Friday sale. Those tend to be the best. I'm anticipating rifle kits for $299 and if that happens I would dbag one just because. A why not type of purchase just like you did. PSA is definitely doing their part to put more rifles in the hands of more Americans making this country a safer place one rifle at a time.

I have put together several PSA rifles over the last several years and I would be willing to trust them implicitly.

My first build was a 16" carbine with the full Magpul treatment, I bought a handful of lowers from them on Black Friday five(?) years ago.

After going through another identical build I decided how I really wanted a rifle set-up, which lead to this one:

And then of course the aforementioned 'budget' build that I couldn't pass up:

I just bought an 11.5" upper with a Melonite-finished barrel for $299, with BCG and charging handle. I'm not 100% about the durability of Melonite compared to a CHF chrome-lined barrel, but for that price it's too good to pass up.

I keep seeing those. Holler with your impressions. I'm staring a hole in the screen at psa's 11.5 uppers no bcg/handle/guards for $200. Probably next paycheck. I have spare bcgs and would drop $ on some magpul or b5 cheapie guards.

Yeah, I'm looking at keeping this one basic. MI FSB mount for a Surefire G2X, maybe an Aimpoint Micro or Trijicon RMR if I find a good deal on one. Already have a single-point sling on my SBR lower, so I'll probably just stick with that.

Nice builds Murg!!! Just saying, if you cut back on the cigs, you won't need the Tums as much (first picture). Worked for me.

What was your overall cost on the budget AR and what parts did you use??

Edit: nevermind, read the post above. $350 parts kit and Anderson lower

Murg, seriously... Please clean your computer desk. LOL!!!

But on a serious note, nice builds. Summer is coming and in my industry summer means metric shit tons of over time. So...... I'll probably work as much as I can and will wait for some good buys in the fall (baring some fucking panic!). So many guns, so little money.

I am currently buying just spare parts. Buying all the little shit that you need to make an AR work. I want all my stuff in quadruplet.

I appreciate the concern for my health guys, the first picture is about five years old, I have already quit smoking. And my life is much better for it.

The budget build was (exact numbers) $387 shipped for the parts kit, PTAC 16" upper, PSA lower build kit. $63 OTD for the Anderson lower from Buds. $14 for the rear sight. $10 for the Blackhawk aluminum magazine. So ready to fire, sans ammunition for less than $475.

At the time PSA was offering a slick side PTAC upper for $10 less, though I know that it would have been fine, and the hype is hype, I couldn't bring myself to buy it. Had I been building for weight I would have done it, but I didn't, and that cost me $10 more.

Buds is a hop skip and a jump away from me, so I saved money on the transfer/shipping of the lower.

never tried an rmr on a rifle, will have to scope that out. Price is about the same, but might be a good weight saver/space saver on an sbr/pistol
