Are there any AK-47s for sale at a reasonable price anymore?

Post by import3dguest » Thu Apr 04, 2013 10:41 am

If someone could link me to a good website to find one that would be great. I'm looking for an AK-47 or AK variant. I don't really care what it is, as long as it's some sort of AK variant and fires the 7.62x39 round. Has anyone seen anything under $800?

Now is a bad time to buy anything that looks all assaulty and shit. I would save your money and check back around the end of summer.

NO! And, stop asking! (jk)

I'd wait, or maybe go to a show and see if there is anything reasonable. I remember buying a Russian made in 2001 for $400. Those days are gone. :gonk: :vmad:

You're probably right... I'm bad at waiting for something that I want to buy though lol.

I have seen several right at 800 lately. Try classfirearms.com or Atlantic. Atlantic had some maadi's around 8 last week.

Kind of interested in an AK 74, myself. Ah, well.

Saw two that claim to be made in North Carolina this weekend for 800 and 825 at two different shops. They looked good, but I've never heard of them being made in NC.

InterOrdinance is a NC ak clone builder, there may be a few others. $800 for one of theirs wouldnt be a bad price in todays market. Honestly though, I would just wait a few months, and see what happens. Right now is a sellers market. (Heck, I'm selling a couple of rifles from my stash, prices are so crazy)

And to think That I got my Mac90's for $100.00 If I also picked up 2 cases of ammo, each, for the outrageous price of $0.07 per round...12 years ago.

Any thoughts on the quality of a Maadi compared to some of the other variants?

^^ It's my understanding that the maadi's in general if put together right with a proper receiver and barrel are decent all around ak. The maadi parts are made on Russian equipment in Cairo or some shit, so basically pretty darn good.

Awesome, thanks. I know it's not an Arsenal, but I don't really want to drop $1200 on a general purpose rifle. Typical AK quality and respectable accuracy within 200m is plenty good for me.

This is correct. The machines were supplied from Russia. They are quality guns. But for the OP, check your local gunshows and papers. Youll be surprised at what you can find without forking out an arm and a leg.

I use to have a Maadi with the thumb hole stock. That was twelve or thirteen years ago. The mag was just a tad loose in the well but nothing major. Other than that, it never failed to fire. It was a typical Mac90 type rifle. It shot what ever rounds I fed through it, FMJ or HP, which my SKS would not.

Anyway, like some others mentioned, Atlantic Firearms has a few "AK" right around $800. They just put out info on an East German model yesterday or the day before and then the folding stock Maadi.

Maybe look at the SKS for now? Same round, no expensive mags to buy. Later, when people find their brains, you can buy an AK and have 2 rifles that use the same ammo. Instead of spending $800 on a lesser AK now, just spend $300 on a serviceable SKS now, and save the remaining $500 to buy a Saiga and convert it later.

I remember a few months ago when WASRs were all over store shelves and they were begging you to buy them at $500...I could always get one later for a little cheaper I thought. The prices of guns/ammo fluctuate too much and I've had to shoot less and get back into PC gaming

Someone I know had picked up two AK 74's a bit over a year ago for just over $300 each... kind of wish I'd gotten in then.
