you probably wont have it when you need a gun. Insurance policies that are good only part of the time aint worth a hoot.

I have to disagree, while there is a time and place for pocket autos - they are not the end all be all of EDC.
I alternate between a full size 1911 (might fit in my pocket, duluth firehose pants) an a Springfield XD Tactical (5 inch double stack 45).

The xd gets the most holster time but neither are compact. The key is a GOOD holster - I use alien gear and crossbreed for IWB and an assortment for OWB. With the exception of jury duty, I have not left home without one of the two in my belt in the last 5 years at least. I dress appropriately, train frequently, and stopped making excuses.

Due to my work environment, I'm forced to pocket carry. A little lcp in the right pocket and a spare mag in the left pocket.

Sorry folks. The send button is too close to the keyboard.
A pocket gun is great when you have no other choice and to be perfectly honest, it would be the last pistol I get rid of.
I had to sell all my guns in preparation for my immigration and was stuck with only a full-size 1911 in a situation where I really could not be discovered. So the 1911 had to remain at home every time I went to work or in summer when I couldn't conceal it. Holsters for 1911's were impossible to come by in SA at the time. Would have been over the moon if I had a little lcp in my pocket!

Absolutely. The whole point of EDC is that it's always with you. All the capability, ease of use and stopping power are irrelevant if it's so big/conspicuous that you won't/can't carry it every single day. Because then it's not with you that one time you need it.

Ironically this was the one topic started by our erstwhile forum member that actually made sense to me ...

Yeah, I really enjoyed how he got the blood pumping. My blood pressure will return to normal now, but a part of me always enjoys when someone comes along and stirs up the coop. We actually talk and get angry and passionate about things. We could not and should not be that way all the time, but it is nice to see and live now and then.
*Remember: I'm just a guy on the internet :)
*Don't go to stupid places with stupid people & do stupid things.
*Be courteous. Look normal. Be in bed by 10'clock.
