Electronic earmuffs. I've used Surefire EP-4s for a few years, and they're nice (I usually double up, EP-4s under muffs, so I can pull my muffs when I go off the line) one of my coworkers got a set of Walker's Razors and raved about 'em.

I've only played with 'em in the house a bit (clapping and the like), and have been favorably impressed so far. They seemed to cut out a lot of background white noise (AC running and such), a radio in the background playing was clear (if tinny), and clapping was distinct but sharply muffled. I'm actually kinda excited to get to the range tomorrow, as much for playing with the muffs as the actual shooting.

The Academy here is out of spotting scopes, though, so I didn't get one of those. :?

Do you have any places local that sell 'em? Keep an eye out for discontinued models and such. I got mine for about 2/3 cost, and it's a good (not great, not awful) safe.

At the risk of seeming like I was reacting to events from earlier today, I just bought a bunch...plus some 20-rd LR-308 mags in sand as well. I’ve had them in my cart all week waiting for my allowance to be reset by my boss (today’s payday...my accountant wife is keeping me on a budget), but when I sat down and started going through my news feeds, I immediately logged back in to my Pri Arms account and pushed the order button.

Today I picked up a 100 round value pack of Federal .223 rounds. It's not much, but it's a start on my road to having a decent supply of ammo for my AR.

It's been longer than 48 hours, but I picked up five Pmags (two windowed mags and three non-windowed mags) over the past two weeks. Again, not much but it's a start.

Magpul MOE handguard and delta ring kit for my AR, to replace the YHM quad rail that's on it.

Personal recommendation: buy an ammo can for each ammo type you might have, and put a list on the can somewhere of what's inside. Update the list whenever you add/remove ammo. Ammo cans are easy to recondition, especially if you have a drill. I take a brass brush bit to the can to remove rust and rough the paint, then go over it with Krylon.

Already way ahead on that. I've got cans for mags and ammo for each of my guns.

I do need to pick up a couple more though.

Thanks for the tip on the reconditioning on the cans, by the way.

I forgot to post this when I bought it, but I purchased a 150 round bulk box of Frontier Cartridge company 55 grain M193 type 5.56 ammo from the local Academy store a couple weeks ago.

  • A case of Armscor FAC22M1M 22 Winchester Magnum 40 GR Jacketed Hollow Point
  • One box of Federal 745 Champion 22 LR Copper-Plated Hollow Point 36 GR 525Box
  • A case of Aguila 1E092110 9mm Luger 124 GR Full Metal Jacket 50 Bx/ 20 Cs
My stocks were getting a little low. I still need more .22LR and some .45 FMJ but this order maxed my ammo budget out for this month.

I also picked up some sand/shot bags for it.

I didn't exactly buy it in the last 48 hours, but I just received a Larue MBT-2S.

There may be better triggers but I really like the one in my 6.5 Grendel, so when they came around for $87 I wasn't about to say no.

Now it just needs to cool down enough my garage doesn't double as a kiln, so I can install it in my old lower.

I just picked up a S&W M&P M2.0 5" FDE. It was on sale for $399 and S&W has a summer sales event where I get $50 back. This is one hell of a gun for $349.In fact I would say this is one hell of a gun for $499, I just didn't have to pay that much for one. Will probably pick up another M2.0 before the sale is over. I already have the M2.0 Compact so I might get the 4.25" threaded barrel version.
