Tactical Cowboy Guns

Post by Bobby Sixkiller » Sat Dec 27, 2008 9:59 pm

The Cowboy Action Shooting community is making jokes about these, since there are not "period correct." I have a strange curious attraction to them. I don't know why. I own lots of sixguns, but none would fit in as well as one of these with my SHTF load out:

Image

Here's the story on them:
Not exactly what you’ll find at a cowboy action match in 2009, but USFA’s Doug Donnelly seems to go on a new route to meet what might be considered as the 21st century demand among the Single Action aficionados. According to a newsletter received today, USFA is coming out with a new SA series called “Shooting Master”. Not much info to share besides this picture, but this model(s) will be manufactured in calibers 357 S&W Magnum, a new USFA® .41 Short Mag. and .44 S&W Magnum.

The 2009 introductory pricing for the initial model is MSRP of $899.00. Colors Shown above are: Coyote Tan, Sage Green, Forest Green, and Federal Brown. Also available: Sniper Grey and Black Graphite

I can see why the purists would be laughing in their spurs over the idea.

But you're right, they do have an interesting aesthetic to it. I can see the appeal, just not for myself.

At $900 for a single action army, I don't think they will be selling too many.

Col. Cooper always said a .30/30 lever made a hell of a lot better cop rifle than an AR.

what is that...because I want one. Seriously, please tell me everything you did to it. A lever action rifle was next on my list of rifles to get.

When I read the title I had envisioned twin mounted 1894s with some Rube Goldberg contraption that made them fire rapidly- something with a bicycle crank and an offset wheel.

That is a bad ass guide gun.

I bet John Wayne is rolling over in his grave right now.

I bought a Uberti 45 LC. It has the aged look like all rusty and dirty and stuff. <- that's my opinion of them.

So where do I get the rail for my Marlin? I know where to get the sight at least. I guess I will have to pick up another lever gun to do something like that to.

Back to the OP. Those are some neat looking pistols. $900 is a bit steep but I like the look of them.

I'm thinking a pair of Uberti Cattleman and some Duracoat. I'd carry one on a walkabout.

I got my Marlin 336 in 30-30. I was just going to put a small scope and sling on it but now im thinking of looking for the more tactical gear for it. To start with the barrle clamp tac-rail on the side of the barrle/magazine tube. Then there is the all black stock and tac-sling im guessing the synthetic stock will drop the weight

This is how it sits for now :D

here's a henry .22lr with a suppressor. Also, I hav[e to say I like the look of the rail on top, but I'm not digging the black tactical stock. I'm just a fan of wood handgaurds on all my guns.
