I was planning to go test my PSA upper today. Instead, I'm trying to unclog my sewage.
Yikes! What happened?
Too much Taco Bell. :gonk:
Wouldn't too much Taco Hell have the opposite effect of clogging things up?
Good point. Taco Bell is like the Exlax of the fast food world.

I guess I should've said too many MREs.

Traveling to my BILs wedding today. TSA posted a sign saying "no Glocks."

Image

I brought a S&W. I guess they don't like *them* either? It sure seems to be a fast track to getting a lady to put her hands on you though. You single fells, just keep that in mind ;)

Do the TSA signs really say "no jokes" ?

I'm not in airports all that often (maybe once every couple years and that depends on whether or not my oldest sister travels for work), so I've never been far enough into one to see the TSA signs.

I personally have not seen the "no jokes" sign, but the other one was exactly what I encountered today.

Yeah, TSA does not have much of a sense of humor.

On a serious note, I think I'll be bringing my CCW with me in the future when flying. It is easier than than I realized. On the other hand, I think it's going to be a while before I fly again. It is expensive and the delays mean we save about 30-60 minutes of travel time for about $700 more in cost. This has happened two or three times now. In fact, it has only worked out well once in the last 4.5 years.

If they did, they'd realize they are the joke.

The only reason I'll fly anymore is for work, because they won't reimburse for ground travel. Or, I suppose, if I was going overseas.

I love flying, even considered trying to build an LSA and/or get my license once. I just hate airports and the TSA these days, followed closely by the hell that is cattle-class flight.

Re: MPMalloy's Heather in the hot or not thread, I have a very similar gun sitting in my office floor right now. 20ga NEF Lil' Pardner, going on 30 years old.

Dad cut the stock down when I was a little guy, because it was too long. When he re-attached it, he failed to quite line it up right. The stock and forearm are also kinda beaten up, and the barrel a bit rusty.

I'm probably going to stand, refinish, and varnish the stock (as practice for refinishing my Remington 700). And, mostly for shits and giggles, I'm thinking of trying to rust blue at least the barrel and maybe the pseudo-case-hardened receiver. I mean, it's really case-hardened, but only a hair deep.

One note: if you remove the bit from the back of the forearm, Heather will turn into a pretty decent takedown. Not a great one, but passable. I keep tossing around the idea of some barrel inserts, and making it a truck gun.

TTAG - BREAKING: ATF Declares the Franklin Armory Reformation a GCA/SBS Shotgun, Halts All Retail Sales

The Reformation’s straight-grooved design quirk was Franklin’s clever way of getting around being designated as either a rifle or a shotgun and avoiding NFA regulation due to the gun’s short barrel (Franklin offers them with either 7″ or 11.5″ barrels).

Even though the Reformation isn’t explicitly outlawed in the gun rights-challenged state of New Jersey, the state police decided it was something they like very much and they banned sales of the gun in the Garden State. Franklin sued.

Now, however, apparently in response to all the hubbub, our friends at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms have issued an official opinion on the matter. In a letter dated today, the ATF has consulted its National Firearms Act ouija board, waived its regulatory wand, and declared the Reformation to be…a shotgun. A short-barreled shotgun. But not one that’s regulated under the NFA.

The Reformation is now a new critter altogether…a GCA/SBS. This genus is so new, in fact, that the ATF is having to gin up entirely new forms and procedures to handle it.

Anyone else reminded of when Olympic made an AR pistol in 7.62x39, bragged about it and then cheap Chinese 7.62x39 ammo with the steel core got banned as a result ?

Now that I think about it, I'm probably remembering the details wrong.

Regarding the Olympic pistol, I think I was in middle school when this happened. I know I was 9 years old when the '94 AWB went into effect and I read all about it in various gun magazines of the day.

But I'm not sure about the Olympic Arms pistol/subsequent Chinese steel core ammo ban. I'll have to do some digging on that subject and then go from there.

ETA: Ok, so the steel core Chinese ammo ban happened around the same time as the AWB in 1994, which means I was still in elementary school at that point. I didn't enter middle school until around 1997, so the ban was in full swing before then.

I say the same thing at our movie theater that just had a picture with no words. The silhouette is a Beretta.

I make sure to carry my Ruger then. They must hate Italian firearms...

7.62 was in the 90's (just saw your post). 7N6 was around 2012.

That's what I had figured, Woods. I was a bit fuzzy on the date, but I knew it was pretty recent.

Oh I remember those days... You had all the gun rushes and panic... And before I could stock up on cheap surplus ammo at $199 for 1080 rounds, it went to over $400 for half that

So the Gub'mint has just recently smacked down both the Reformation and the FosTech SBV. Tim at MAC says they may also be taking another look at braces...ugh.

I'd say the genie is pretty much out of the bottle with braces, but that's never stopped the Feds before. We really need a repeal of the NFA and a few other regs, but that would open up one helluva can of worms as the political types tried to "replace" them.

Any word on if the ATF is going to take another look at the Mossberg Shockwave and Remington Tac-14 ?

I saw a number of those at the GS today. I'd like one in 20 GA.

Provided the ATF doesn't turn around and reclassify them, I might pick one up next year.

I don't yet own a 20 gauge and I like that Remington makes a Tac-14 in 20 gauge now. If I did get one in 12 gauge, I'd probably end up paying the NFA tax and putting a full size stock on it.

That would be rather silly since you can pick up an 870 for less than that, and have money left over to mod it.

Speaking of mods, them's some snazzy looking new duds you're wearing there Chimp. Suits you.
