How can anyone not know who SMoAF is?

He is our resident Bill Brasky!

Quote:
The discussions begin with an agreement that "Bill Brasky is a son of a bitch," at which point the Buddies proceed to tell tall tales of Brasky's superhuman feats, usually focused on his huge size, virility, celebrity connections, amazing tolerance for drugs and alcohol, and reckless disregard for human life. If their stories are to be believed, Brasky is enormously tall and heavy, superhumanly tough, can eat anything, has numerous affairs, and has killed and maimed many people. All of the salesmen have been his victim at one time or another, but they are all celebrated with the same gusto. At regular intervals, they raise their glasses to toast him, shouting "To Bill Brasky!"

Ahhhhh yes... I know who the member is, especially when I see his avatar picture... in my mind when I read KJ's post, I was thinking a national organization like MADD or NRA or something...

SMoAF is international though... or at least has a strong history of being international.

I tried that. Some mistakes you only make twice.

I used to love those books when I was a teenager.

Nah, I know him IRL. He's not an inch over 6'6"

Wait, SMoAF is only two inches taller than I am ?

I always thought he was way taller. Then again, this is all probably common info that's somewhere here on ZS and I'm just not paying attention like I should be.

I've never understood why some people get all freaked out over a person owning a bunch of firearms. It's not like a person who owns two dozen firearms is significantly more dangerous than a person who only owns two.

I would be pretty curious to know how many people out there only own one firearm. Pretty much everyone I know that owns a firearm owns several. On the other hand pretty much everyone I know owns firearms, so my anecdotal experience probably isn't representative. We'll probably never get an accurate answer to that question because people aren't going to answer surveys like this truthfully.

Owning one gun seems weirder to me than owning seventeen. Not that there's anything morally objectionable with just owning one.

Ask 'em if they have a toolbox at home and if they only have one tool in it.

Recent conversation-

8YO son asks: how many guns do we own?

Me: as a house hold?

Son: yes

Me: as far as you need to be concerned- 2 (implying the 2 he sees my wife and I carry when we leave the house)

Son: I know we have more than those, I want to know how many more.

Me: you don't need to know how many, just like you don't need to know where they are kept

Kid is homeschooled and we attend a church that encourages members to carry- other wise my spidery-sense would be tingling. I think he was just curious. But I tell the story to drive home a point-

If I won't tell my kid how many guns I own, I sure as Hell won't tell a politically motivated statistic taker.

That is a good line. I use the golf club bag example. Do you have just one club? Why do people
have so many clubs?

I have a few theories, but I'm not stating them on a forum. Seventeen isn't all that many. A few handguns, rimfires, shotguns, and hunting rifles and you can get to 17 in a hurry.
