Ok, I didn't see where the Reformation could fire standard ammo. The video I watched made it sound like it fired a proprietary round only.

And now I feel like a dumbass.
Yep the proprietary stuff is claimed to get 1moa and regular ammo is like 5moa. If you find videos, they keep using this "knuckleball" metaphor that gets very irritating. I'm also not believing their accuracy claims.

It sounds to me like they want to hype up their proprietary ammo and the Reformation is the way to go for them. They release a gun that skirts the NFA laws, which gets people talking, and then they use the built up hype to release a new ammo specifically designed for use in their new offering.

I wonder how many units of this gun Franklin Armory is going to sell. At 2k a pop, my guess is not a whole lot.

If it skirts ban laws I bet it will sell a bunch. Though I don't know if it skirts laws or not.

Starting with the XO-26, the history of Franklin Armory has basically been: "Hey Gub'mint, 'neener, neener.'"Image

I wonder if the in-house slogan of Franklin Armory is "Let's see how much crap we can pull on the ATF before they come down on us."

Approval letters from the ATF tech branch help immensely.

Erm, the Gyrojet launched miniature rockets from a smoothbore tube....Just sayin'.

I know that, but it's the closest thing I could think of when I watched the video.

Yeah, I know. :gonk:
Concept-wise, they're in the same neighborhood as the fin-stabilized ammo used in smoothbore tank cannons. Except they don't have sabots on them. Making sabots for 120mm (or even 25mm - the Bushmaster chaingun has APFSDS ammo as well) is probably a lot easier than for 5.56mm. So borrowed the shape from the Nerf Vortex Aero football.

Franklin Armory should make their proprietary ammo lead foster slugs to get spin and be cheap. Call them "little-sluggers" and have a kid in a Yankees uniform with a baseball bat on the box to get those American emotions flowing.

Then come out with a pistol caliber version. Maybe 45 cap with lead pumpkins for easy loading. Maybe make a new round similar to the 338 whisper#2 where you make a 5.56 case straight walled so you only need a barrel change. Again, lead or hard cast foster slugs.

Why not just offer it with a threaded barrel (ostensibly for a suppressor) and sell a rifled barrel extension that just "happens" to fit it?

I didn't see a whole lot that made me go "Ooh, Chimpy want." This year was kind of disappointing, to be honest.

One of the few things that interested me was that 10/22 stock that made a standard 10/22 into a takedown model and the new Ruger PC carbine. That's about it.

That's very disappointing. It's 2018 of the 21st century after all. I would have expected a Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator at least by now.Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering kaboom! This makes me very angry, very angry indeed

Russian Army Adopts AK-12, AK-15, AEK-971, and AEK-973 Rifles for Military Service (For Real This Time)

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018 ... real-time/

The Russian Defense Ministry has made a decision regarding its next infantry rifle: It will adopt everything, it seems. Not only will Russian Army forces receive the improved 5.45x39mm AK-12 (the new AK-12, not the different previous version), and the 7.62x39mm AK-15, but the 5.45mm Degtyarov AEK-971 and 7.62x39mm AEK-973 will be procured for special units as well. This “two-tiered” rifle mix is not unusual in the modern era, but a formal, simultaneous adoption of two such weapons is quite strange for a major military such as that of the Russian Federation. From Krasnaya Zvezda (Red Star) machine translated from Russian with corrections:

At the coordination scientific council it was stated that the leadership of the Ministry of Defense decided to adopt both 6P67, 6P68, AK-12 and AK-15 automatic weapons. Products JSC “V.A. Degtyarev ” have the best performance when firing from an unstable position, they are recommended for various special forces. The products of OA “Concern” Kalashnikov “by the criterion” of simplicity and reliability “are more suitable for combined arms units and subunits.”
