Speaking of the ARES SCR, anyone here had hands on with one ?

Also, I've yet to see one in the wild in my AO. Did ARES actually produce these or did they just make a few and give up ?

I've never seen one but I am in a "free state" afterall.

For a budget and proven (kinda... not really) platform, there is always Keltec and their SU16 and PLR16

Ares/Fightlite still make 'em. Buds has the rifles and lowers in-stock.

IIRC, Ares and Fightlite were owned by the same folks, but recently they folded Ares into Fightlite, so the older SCR rifles have the "Ares" rollmark, and the current ones "Fightlite".

Oh, ok. Last I heard anything about the SCR was this time last year and after that, they seemed to disappear off the radar.

Good to hear they're still around. I need to check Bud's more often I guess.

IPSC here I come!

I like the fightlites. I might someday get one so I'm ready if I have to move to an unfree state.

I always liked the Widley. I remember when they first came out in the 70's. They were dazzling then and still are one of these timeless pistols that look current ~40 years later.

I forget where I read it, but I read an article a long time ago that said every time "Death Wish 3" airs on TV, the company that makes the Wildey pistol gets tons of orders.

Now that I think about it, I may have read it in "Guns and Ammo" or Shotgun News. Either way, if that's true, that's pretty neat.

I've also heard that... and if I had money I'd be a part of that statistic...

I didn't know someone had recently started making the Wildey again, 'til I saw the USA Firearms Corp. ad in the latest Shotgun News....Firearms News.

Same here, JeeperCreeper.

Now that I think about it, I had the funds for a Wildey four years ago, but I ended up buying a few other guns instead.

What's the attraction for this handgun? I'm not understanding it.

I'm not saying it sucks or anything. :)

I think for most of us, it's mostly a nostalgia thing because of "Death Wish 3".

From the Wiki....

In popular culture-

The firearm was integral to a large number of scenes from the Charles Bronson film Death Wish 3; it should be noted that in real life, it was Bronson's personal pistol. The appearance is credited with increasing Wildey sales enough to rescue the company from a near collapse and bankruptcy. Founder Wildey J. Moore quoted that every time Death Wish 3 is aired on cable TV, sales spike.[20]

I was attracted to it before Death Wish 1 (much less 3) came out for the simple reason at the time SS pistols were rare. It is gas operated and fired a more powerful .45 round that was billed as being better than a .44 magnum. So you got .44 magnum power with more ammo capacity and it was unique.

That said I never did but one because I had no real use for it.

YAY! I do love 10mm! I just found out about MagTech carbines that you that can connect to 1911 frames, Glock frames, and Springfield pistol lowers they seem to perform well on videos I've found. I'm still waiting for a lever action 10mm! :awesome:
