I've not seen any at Wal-Mart specifically, but I've had no issue getting it at any of 5 different places (2 "superstores" and 3 LGS) for a year or maybe more now. Prices are reasonable - I started shooting when .22 couldnt be found and it was 10-15 cents a round when you did. Usually the place I go to has it for 6.7 cents a round but this last time I got a 1000 round pack of Winchester M-22 for 5.5 cents a round.

It wouldn't surprise me that some knuckle draggers still go to Wal-Mart at 7 AM to buy up everything they put out with aims to gouge clueless people at gun shows and online.

My three local Walmarts have always been receiving .22 but the real problem is the resellers who show up at opening hours with friends and family and buy out all available .22 ammo. One of the WalMarts got wise to that and started putting out .22 at random hours. I recently bought three 100 round boxes of Remington Golden bullets from a shelf full of them.

Pretty much. I see 325 round packs there most days I get sent there. The good news is that the small 100 round boxes are cheaper per round than the bulk pack. It took a little while to figure out why.

These days you can find plenty of free shipping ammo places cheaper than Walmart (no tax too). A lot of them are not listed on ammoseek.

I haven't seen too much .22LR ammo at the local Walmart, but it's been pretty heavy on the shelves at Academy and other stores.

Academy was selling bulk for higher too. Their big bullet buckets were the worst deal in the store at regular price. "On sale" they are not bad.

I've been to two different Wally Worlds in my AO within the past few days and both seemed to be well supplied with all kinds of .22 LR. I wasn't looking for .22 LR, I was there getting .45 ACP, but I glanced at those rows while waiting for someone to open the case and get my ammo and I don't recall any large empty spaces.

Regardless, .22 LR is easy to buy in large quantities online these days, at reasonable prices.

I haven't seen the big buckets of Remington Golden Bullets lately at Academy. I've just mostly seen the CCI and Winchester bulk ammo at the one in Odessa.

Before the shortage, I'd been buying it for around .05/rnd for a long time. In relatively small increments compared to bulk purchases. $100 at 0.04/rnd is still a hundred dollars compared to $24-27 at 0.043-0.054/rnd. Smaller budget hit and could still build up a cache month by month.

But back then I'd be passing up the Federal 550 value pack which was the best buy at Walmart, just because I didn't really need/want it, and they always had 10 or more boxes of it. So it's hard for me to even consider anything over .06 nowadays.

It is still hiding behind the counter here in California, but it is available about 90% of the time.
