pfffft!

Rules! The last general chat went for 52 and the last firearms chat for 108....

And the Walking Dead thread is in the 500s!

Now, weekend plans: make jerky vs. range time

I honestly do not know why the limit was set at those levels for chat threads. That said some folks get antsy when the number exceed those levels. So... :D

Oh, don't I know it. I thought I was going to get tarred and feathered and then rode out on a rail!

I have no idea.

I figure that one has to be using a ton of bandwidth for ZS. I know we once had a Chat thread in Off Topic that went for almost 600 pages before the ZS higher ups decided to implement the 50 pages rule.

Since this is a gun chat thread, anyone here gotten hands on with the new Canik TP9 SF Elite pistols yet ? I'd like to add one to my collection, but I want some advice first.

Only negatives I'm seeing is folks complaining about weak and erratic ejection and the usual "Duh, if you buy one, you support terrorism" crap on YouTube.

Err- what? How does it support terrorism?

Apparently since it's a Turkish made gun, if you buy one your money goes directly to the bad guys and you're a terrorist sympathizer.

This is all according to the peanut gallery on YouTube and that "Yankee Marshall" doofus over there.

Wow! That is a damn tenuous connection. They do realize that Turkey is a member of NATO, and a stalwart Western ally dating back to the Cold War- oh and they ARE NOT a Islamic Theocratic Dictatorship (like some of our other Middle Eastern 'allies').

I think I'll start insisting that accountants are terrorists because they use the Arabic numerical system.

This thread reminds me I should clean and oil my guns.

Even though it's been pretty dry here, the general humidity in Virginia freaks me out. I try to keep my stuff well oiled. Don't think I'm overdoing it...

Turkey seems to be on it's way to becoming autocratic, IMO.

I'm not versed enough on the subject to opine, but I assure you there are those in this country who believe we are on that same path.

*sees sign that reads 'Politics Next Exit'*

I think we need to keep this minivan on the free way.

So- make jerky or go to the range this weekend. Which will it be for Hiro!

Why can't you do both?

3 things:

1. I bet The Walking Dead thread is a good one to have in all one place as I bet it drives traffic to this site (or used to) with how popular the show is (or used to be)

2. I love my Turkish guns. I separate politics from my firearms because firearms are innocent, loving creatures... I once took an Armenian girl shooting and when I told her my Stoeger and Canik were both made in Turkey, she was livid. Until I explained I also had German guns and my own relatives were mowed down by the SS... it's not the gun or location. She then wanted to shoot the guns to "learn the ways of her enemies". I swear... people love to worry about geography lines.

3. I bought a Dan Wesson .357 used with an 8inch barrel for under 3 bills.... shot it for the first time. Shoots like butter. Love it. Go buy one.

Where and how for $300?

A small, hole in the wall gun and bait shop in Pennsylvania. Actually, they are normally way overpriced but sell exotic ammo for odd guns... you know, the kinda store where the floor is uneven and the shelves are from the 40's with a guy behind the counter talking about pre-64 Winchesters are God's gift to earth. So I stopped in cuz I was driving through.

I guess it was on consignment. I picked it up and it was kinda ugly from never being cleaned. But it functioned well. There are some handling marks and the finish isn't great (it might have been dropped on the right side). But it's what I call a 2-foot gun. Looks great from two feet away. After a few hours of scrubbing, I got the bluing to come back and the wood grips to shine.

I'm guessing it was a gun that some dude needed to offload for quick cash. The area it was in was a blue collar area that isn't doing too too hot when it comes to work.

But it shot like a laser. I never thought I would want an 8inch .357, but for a range or hunting toy, it was amazing. I woulda passed it up if it weren't for the price...
