Long arm: Mossberg 590A1 loaded with Brenneke slugs. If 9 rounds of .73 caliber non-fragmenting/deep penetrating slugs don't get the job done, there won't be a chance to reload anyway. The bayonet just might matter against littler dinosaurs, too.
Side arm: .44/.45 Revolver with non expanding/deep penetrating slugs. Save the last round for yourself.

I would say
For large target : a NTW-20 would take care of most of them
For medium : a BAR 30-06 would be enough or any semi-automatical rifle of that caliber
For small : a AA-12 with either frag or buck shot

Get excited. Good ole Chris Pratt seems to be rocking a lever 45-70

My long arm would be a M-1 Abrams, ( in a close confrontation it might take the Spinosarus a few extra seconds to tip it over. Giving you another chance for a shot) . For large JP Dinos. any rifle would would be useless since in JP3 the mercenaries were armed with Einhorn 20mm semiautos firing HE rounds ( actually they were Barrett M82A2 's but hey its movie magic story time) . For a side arm I would pick a AS-VAL for the smaller critters. Silent , semi or full auto and a decent close range round. If I'm on foot I don't want to ring the dinner bell with my shots.
As of now I bet you got me wrong

I was thinking the 45-70 lever action "guide gun" would be my choice.
As long as I'm game "wardening" and not going to war with the dinos.
Easy to carry, reliable as heck, several "follow up" shots available. 4 in the case of my Marlin.
And as Dave Petzal of Field & Stream once said, "that cartridge can kill anything."

Re: Jurassic Park make-believe
Saw Jurassic World on Thursday night. Phenomenal, but then again, it is my favorite series of movies.
Imfdb is off on a few of the guns. Some mercenaries looked like they had m14s with the ebr chassis. The site lists the one dude having a colt python when its a Smith vxr (muzzle brake and red tipped ammo).
Chris Pratt uses a 45-70 and it was kinda useless even when he did use it. I was looking at some figures, and even though modern ammo pumps it up nicely, it's generally considered weak for elephants (therefore T-rex as well). But in a repeater, it'd be hard to beat.
With the new movie, I think I'd take an Ruger SR762 for everyday dinos, and the Weather by mkV in 460 weatherby mag for the big boys.

A belt fed m-2 backed up by any 30 mm cannon. For walking around any modern RPG.
That and an APC to carry said belt fed mg, cannon and related ammo.

What about a suppressed M4 thingy with a .22 ciener conversion unit?
The books and movies tell us that a dinosaur's vision is motion sensitive, so if you hunt them at night, you can take them out before they see (or hear) you.
I can't believe none of you thought of this...
P.S. Use the tranq gun to knock yourself out during the day, so you can sleep in your bunker and avoid looters.

Re: Jurassic Park make-believe
Only certain Dinosaurs had to see movement . T-Rex for instance. Don't move and if he didn't smell you he'd walk right past. Other dinosaurs didn't need motion to pick you out. Plus you better pack that night vision goggles cause all the predatory dinos had excellent night vision sight. Most of them hunted by night.echo83 wrote:What about a suppressed M4 thingy with a .22 ciener conversion unit?

Sinister sound of Tyrannosaurus Rex heard for first time in 66 million years
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2017 ... 6-million/
The fearsome roar of Tyrannosaurus Rex as portrayed in film has left many a cinema-goer quaking in their seat.
But new research suggests the king of the dinosaurs made a far more sinister sound.
For a new BBC documentary, naturalist Chris Packham visited Julia Clarke, professor of Vertebrate Palaeontology at the University of Texas, to test out a the theory that dinosaurs actually sounded more like birds and reptiles, than today’s predatory mammals.

Tier 1: Bear spray or or high pressure pepper foam with repeating tranq gun. Hey, those animals are expensive!
Tier 2: Ruger 4" GP100 loaded with .357 hard cast. Mossberg 590 with ammo suitable to exhibit. BB for compys, poison load steel penetrators for large predators.
Tier 3: M60 machine gun with steel core/AP ammo. Parks helos and STOL fixed wing aircraft to equipped with gunners straps. Sidearm choice of gunner. That is, unless you fancy taking on an apex predator from ground level.
