So you got an AR and like everyone knows its the barbie of the gun world and it isnt complete till you get it the dreamhouse and malibu car. So what are your fav toys and why?

These are my newest additions to the fam...

This is the LWRC M6IC Spartan and on it: the Magpul AFG2 foregrip on it, got the Magpul BUS backup sights, Magpul ACS-L stock but will replace it for the Magpul UBR stock in a few days, Viridian X5L-RS light/green laser, and Eotech EXPS3 sight the Eotech g33 Magnifier.

So what do you keep or want on yours?

I've got two! Two accessories, that is. The Gapper and a VCAS. Maybe I'm a stick in the mud. I dunno, but it works for me. 1600 rounds, no malfunctions of any kind. 1 cleaning. Hits what I aim at anyway. There's a prancing pony rollmark.

Old: Magpul RVG foregrip, CTR stock, VTAC basic sling
Image

New: RVG, B5 Bravo stock, VTAC upgraded sling attached with Troy QD rail mount, BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 charging handle
Image

Not pictured was the BCM Gunfighter Mod 1 pistol grip or VTAC light mount I used in between these pictures being taken.

The RVG is pretty much my ideal foregrip. Good angle on the top for use as a handstop while shooting, long enough to give my hand something to hold on to on patrol, but short enough it doesn't snag on everything. I prefer the B5 to the CTR as the QD sockets are rotation limited and I didn't need to trim material away with a knife to prevent the swivel from rubbing against the stock. I have no specific loyalty to VTAC, they're just what was available when I needed a sling. The padding on sling #2 was definitely more comfortable but could snag on load lifters and ruck frames, hence the QD swivels. Since I don't need that capability any more I'd like to try a more minimalist design like the SOB or Proctor slings. I liked the angle on the BCM grip but never use the storage capacity. I'd like to try a Magpul K2. Not crazy about the BCM charging handle since the Mod 4 lever had a tendency to snag on webbing and pouches on patrol. If I had to do it over again I would get a Mod 5 with the smaller lever. I'll probably end up getting a Raptor for my personal gat though since a charging handle is about the only ambi control I would actually use.
Overkill never fails.

Pretty basic for now. Eventually going to replace the Primary Arms aimpoint micro with a real aimpoint and add a light.

It's a Primary Arms 3x LER on a flip to side mount. So far I'm digging it. I will probably use the same magnifier with the aimpoint micro when I get one.

I think I'm only going to cover accessories that aren't mission critical. Very easy to get bogged down in WMLs/Optics/etc

So just the 'nice to haves'
Tango Down BG16 grips
ACE SOCOM stocks
Tango Down stubby VFGs
KAC handstops (if using a handstop instead of a VFG)
BCM VFGs
RevEng FCD (now unavailable)
Vltor/BCM Gunfighter charging handles
NiB BCGs
Tubbs or Springco action springs
MicroMOA Govnah adjustable gas blocks

Saw this at the last SHOT show, still my favorite AR dress up mod to date:

Image

The knuckles quick detach from the VFG with the flick of a switch, it was actually pretty well designed.

Such a bad idea for several reasons.

Wow, that would be a problem in retention drills. Owww, my hand!

I think that may beat the CZ handgun bayonet.

OT: BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle. Bar none, IMO, the best and almost mandatory upgrade for an AR-15.

Pic to follow.

Upside is that they come with QD swivels. Downside is that it's a terrible place to mount a sling. So, I think of it as getting a free swivel with purchase.

My QD sling is mounted on my MAGPUL UBR stock...I would never consider mounting it there...

I imagine it's more for the front swivel ;)

Regardless, even with an advanced 2-point it's not a phenominal place to put it.

That's putting it mildly...

On a separate note, how do you like the ace so com stock...is it primarily for the weight savings or do you find it a more stable platform then others?

If I were going for weight savings it wouldn't be my first choice. It's just a tough tough tough buttstock.

Whats so great about the BCM CH? Dont get me wrong, I like mine a lot. I just dont think I'm enough of a SRS operator to notice the benefits. It is nice for charging the weapon weak handed though. I do realize it redirects the forces off the roll pin, which is another plus.
