Phoenix, AZ Gun Shops.

Post by ochunter375 » Wed Feb 13, 2013 11:56 pm

I'm headed to Phoenix in 2 weeks for a couple of days. Could anyone recommend any gun shops to go to or avoid? I'd like to pick up some odds and ends. Thanks ZS.

The general area you would be visiting could help narrow it down.
There are a lot of LGS out here.
off the top of my head,
there's Shooters World it has a range, and Rezz Guns has a pretty eclectic mix of used firearms.
Both central Phoenix~ish.

I'll be staying at the embassy suites in Scottsdale. I'll have a rental car. Thanks - Jim

Has panic buying struck out in AZ?

In that case The Scottsdale Gun Club and Bear Arms would be closer to you.

Yup, here too.
Though SGC has had more stock than most due to some purchase restrictions.

Pistol Parlor is tiny but I've always liked their staff. Caswells doesn't wow me. Glockmeister is cool if you like Glocks. They're all in Mesa.

Are you going to be able to buy what you want in AZ with your NY license?

I think you can buy longarms with an out of state DL, but not handguns..could be wrong. I know NYS is super restrictive so that might be a factor.

Might want to just consider going to AZ permanently if you like guns.

This is the case in many states, though some FFLs refuse to sell to out-of-staters. Some will also allow you to buy, and then ship it to your FFL back wherever.

+1 for the pistol parlor.
They are my go to for ammo, along with shooter stop.
I stopped going to Caswells a while ago.

I don't think I would really be buying any guns. I'm pretty set on them. Unless I see something that I really want but don't need! I've bought long guns in Georga before and the store just mails them to my FFL in NY and I do the NICS check in NY. I'm sure it's the same in AZ. Depending on the dealer I guess. I'm just looking for some odds and ends. Fortifying my infrastructure. Maybe some ammo or magazines. I'll be there for work and my I may have some down time. I always try and hit different shops when I travel. How's the Cabelas? Any good bars in the Scottsdale area?

Not even a joke. I found the .22 I wanted for my daughter at Academy. Only folks I found with one on hand. Different State DL, but GA CCW permit. Because of my DL, they wouldn't sell to me. I used someone else for a special order. Fockers can piss up a rope for all I care. GA law says long guns to anyone that's not a felon or otherwise disqualified. It says skip everything and sell now if you have a GA CCW permit. Academy failed on both counts (including the supervisor). They are still the only place local that carries the shoes I like, but that's the only business they get from me.

I have a thing about trying on shoes before I buy. I don't care if I'm buying the same size of the same model. I have a need to try them on first. I go from 11EEE to 13D, depending on make and model...

Dick's and Basspro did this to me in several states. In NC, nobody would do a long arm without my orders.

I went to the Pistol Parlor today. Really great place. All the employees were nice. They even had a bunch of ARs for sale. They would also sell me a long gun if I wanted. They were sold out on the magazines I was looking for. All and all a really good shop.

honestly i like cabelas pretty competitive prices and decent stock. most shops around here have crazy high prices, from what ive seen, even before it all went to heck. My favorite place to just BS is Randalls. Lone wolf is like a Ruger outlet store, with as much as they carry in stock. But you cant ccw and they arent friendly so Im currently shunning them

But these are all west side, about 30 minutes depending on traffic.

mmmmm elk sammich....looks like Im going to cabelas tomorrow

The law used to say out of state long gun sales had to be between contiguous states. That changed, but it still has to be approved by both states. Some states don't allow them at all.
