Yep they are deck prisms

Like anything else, I find redundancy is the key to lighting. Keep some emergency candles (with brass head and rim from shotgun shell to help extend life), have a cache of batteries for my maglight, keep a couple of maglites nearby, and have some glow sticks. Also, I forget what they are called, but I have some of those glowstick/flashlight combos that run on batteries as a first lighting option. Keep one in every room for emergencies. This way, if SHTF, I'll have variety and it should last for a considerable amount of time.
