In my day, we didn't have virtual reality.

Take stock of what you do have. The basics off the top of my head (I'm sure others will add more).
- How much cash do you have in your wallet/mattress? How much in the bank? (You don't have to actually tell us--this is an exercise for you). The first best prep is economic stability.
- How many days' worth of food in your house?
- How is your wardrobe? Do you have clothes in good condition appropriate to all seasons? Good shoes and boots?
- How mobile are you? What are your means of transportation? How tied are you economically/socially to a particular place?
- Do you have tools, emergency equipment, camping gear? (You can and will get a lot of advice on these things and the skills that go with them on this forum if you ask and sometimes even if you don't.)
I am the undisputed creator of the zombie tornado. (High Ground series now available)

Another place you may want to check out is FerFal's Blog. The guy was living in Argentina when their economy collapsed in 2001. He wrote extensively about his experience and how he adapted, and prepped to deal with his changing country. A few years ago, when the government turned socialist, he decided to get out of the country and he emigrated to.....Northern Ireland. :awesome:

Best way to start in a place like the upper 6 would be to talk to your older neighbors and relatives about what they did during the troubles when it was unsafe to go outdoors. I'm sure we could all learn a lot from them. living under foreign occupation no matter what side of that occupation you're on, forces you to be creative, frugal, and careful.
