Alternative Bottle Solutions From 7K Years Ago

Post by Stercutus » Wed Sep 25, 2019 5:07 pm

We are way past bottle/ boob stage around here but I found this article interesting and maybe of use to those with the young ones thinking long term.

These days of dust
Which we've known
Will blow away with this new Son

But I'll kneel down wait for now
And I'll kneel down
Know my ground

In my family's experience, boobs work great. Not something all families can say, however.

Good to see the ways things worked in the past. In some sort of collapse I would not expect all milks to be pasturized. Something to be aware of.

What would be the effect(s)?

Germs in the milk. For a baby under 3 months they are especially at risk. Normally they get anti-bodies from the mother if breastfeeding. Really, their immune systems need to be respected until near 6 months, and breastfeeding can actually cure or moderate a lot if illness. Mothers are pretty well designed to care for their children. Levels of nutrients will actually change depending on the baby's individual needs, and these are detected by the baby's saliva.

The only illegal thing my wife has ever done is drink unpasteurized milk in Wisconsin. They have laws requiring all milk sold for human consumption to be pasturized, but farmers can be convinced to sell raw, unpasteurized milk.

To be clear, the germs in unpasteurized milk can hit adults too. But my wife never suffered anything. So YMMV.
