Re: BOB Advice

I keep my canteens filled with a drop or two of bleach and rotate them ~3 months. I have 8 water bottles that I rotate weekly/daily (Drink, fill, grab another bottle). My camel backs I also keep full, in the summer time I just freeze them about 3/4 of the way full, this keeps them fresh and cools me...

Re: The 100 on CW

Actually, there could be some discontinuity. Towards the end of season 1, they were emphasizing the direness of approaching winter. Now, the weather outside seems nice. Or maybe it's conveniently sunny days and Camp Jaha brought enough rations for everyone so Finn and Bellamy don't have to bother a...

Re: BOB Advice

Personally I use tissues and toilet paper the same way, so that seems a little redundant.

Also I prefer headlamps to flashlights, since you're only carrying a small flashlight you might think about adding one of those. I also like road flares, they serve as signal and emergency fire making.

Re: The 100 on CW

So I finally got to the end of season 1. Now I'm trying to get the latest season 2. Thought it seems that S2E1 is...... Really fast forwarded. It doesn't seem to match up with the end of season 1 at all. can anyone confirm that S2E1 is actually that dis-conjoined without spoilers? I didn't see a bi...

Re: Repackage #10 cans

This is a preference and nothing more…. I personally view canned foods as the gold standard for life span, security and longevity of stored foods. The only time I would remove food from a #10 can is to eat it. I would never suggest uncanning food to simply store it in mylar bags. IMO it defeats the...

Re: Are gunsafes bulletproof?

So to summarize this thread, gun safes are more bullet resistant than most things but unless your safe is full of old Nokia phones someone somewhere has a gun that will penetrate it. Unless this is a movie because in the movies that BFG won't penetrate cardboard let alone the sheet rock you're hidin...

Re: Keep Them Secure or Keep Me Safe?

That lockable closet door you had at your old place was hardly secured from theft. If that's your idea of secured, you're mistaken. That'll keep family members and kids out (maybe) but not a criminal. Get a locker. They're not that expensive. Bolt it down to the wall and to the floor, maybe hidden ...

Keep Them Secure or Keep Me Safe?

So I've recently moved from Oklahoma City to Wichita Kansas. Not being familiar with the city we signed a lease in a cheap but less than safe neighborhood. I was keeping them in a locked closet in my old apartment but my new place doesn't have a closet I can put a lock on. My brother-in-law has offe...

Re: If you only had 7kg for a weapon loadout what do you tak

So after the "Pistol Carbine for BOB" thread, it pulled up a few questions about compromise and weight. I just weighed my bob and it stands at 14kg sans pistol/rifle. I'm 100kg and fairly strong, but I feel I need to put a sensible weight limit on the pack, which I've set at 25% body weight. My BOB...

I would grab my pitchfork and kick him to the curb also. I know RIGHT NOW in my perfectly prepared apartment with the police only 3 numbers away I wouldn't invite someone in with rapist branded into their arm. At TEOTWAWKI I wouldn't suddenly decide to risk it. Maybe there's an explanation, maybe he...

I would really dig bionic arms with built in flamethrower/machine gun, mostly because my arms are so scrawny... I try lifting but can't seem to bulk up.

Re: You just lost your Bug Out Bag

Fun fact, BOB v1.0 got stolen out of my truck. Guys dumped it out in an ally about 3 blocks away, took the cheap rambo knife but left everything else. I was a 1 on actual stuff lost but a 10 on pissed off. Sucks to have things stolen, sucks more when they break your window and only steal a $15 knife...

Personally I like the show, it's got it's problems but it's no Terra Nova steaming pile of you-know-what. Season 2 isn't to bad either, let's see what happens. Yeah, there's a lot of things they could've done better. Yeah, you'd probably find scientific inaccuracies and plot holes without even looki...

Re: putting together a Vehicle Accident Kit

Sounds like a pretty good list. Old joke: Blond pulls up to an accident, opens her trunk and two men in trench coats jump out. When the paramedics arrive they ask the woman, "Who are those guys?" She responds, "Those are my emergency flashers. Might think about adding those to your car bag. http://h...

If you watch the video you can see some pretty nasty bullet holes in the front, but basically yes and no. It deflected most rounds a home invader would carry but it's not Indiana Jones fridge, eventually a large enough caliber will penitrate it.

I think the advise is differing because the material used to make the bite guard differ. I know some plastics can be degraded using light or chemicals. Re: Discussion about 10/22 Mags

Limited to 30 rd mags here in Ohio so no drum love for me :ohdear: BX25s for me. Though I did find a 3 pack of BX10 mags at the LGS for under fourth bucks. Almost prefer the 10s for prone and bench shooting anyways. Well I'm canceling my plans to move to Ohio. How can I be cool without a huge drum?...

Re: Discussion about 10/22 Mags

I've got a couple of those regular BX25 mags from Ruger and they seem to be well made. The only issue I've had is them being a little tight in my 10/22 with the synthetic stock. I've been told that the synthetic stocks are molded a little tight in the magwell area, but shaving them down a slight bi...
