Re: $5 Walmart "Sheffield" knife.

I think when the blade is closed it's suppose to be a bottle opener but IDK. Personally I have a ton of the "Outdoors" dollar knifes, they suck balls but only cost a buck. I keep a couple in my car, fishing stuff and stashed around. They usually get the job done but I seem to always knock them into ...

Re: cooking pasta in a pressure cooker

The pressure cookers really not going to change the amount of water needed, it's just going to decrease the cook time of the pasta by making the cook temp higher. Also he's using sauce which has a higher water content, when I do backpack pasta I use paste and thin it by not straining the pasta. Just...

Re: Free time and spare parts =???

Can you explain why you feel it's a grey area? Really, I'd like to know. :D Absolutely, first the ATF letter that is used to clarify the SB15 is not legally binding, meaning they can change their mind by classifying the SB15 as a stock in which case this would become an SBR. Since there's no court ...

Re: Free time and spare parts =???

Are you a lawyer? Cause if you're not then no I do NOT think you know anything about the law. The ATF HAS arrested people for using the SB15 as a stock and since you don't have the $200 for the tax stamp I don't think you'd have the money to keep your ass out of jail if the ATF disagrees with you. ...

Re: 140 million Americans Affected by Deep Freeze

Yea it was 74 degrees during the day then by 9pm the temp dropped to 27 and I'm in Kansas. I was looking forward to fall but mother nature decided it be a cold nasty woman. I can't imagine what mother natures doing to the Great Lakes. It did surprise me though when reading some of the comments, peop...

Re: What's everyone's BO sleep strategy?

Depending on the event I'll vary my movement... If it's lawful-ish moving during the day will be best, you can see and normal sleep won't be effected. If it's crazy-SHTF I doubt I'd be able to sleep very well so I'd probably try cat napping. I'm packing a full sleep system + two air mattress for me ...

Re: Roll up tent stove pipes

I know my friends tent stove is vented using a piece of flexi dryer hose, I think it's 4 in though. I think a piece of duct tubing could be used.

What's the make of your stove?
Can you post some pictures?

Do you even own anything NFA to make your comments? If I own a suppressor, don't you think I know about the law? If YOU don't know what your talking about...perhaps you shouldn't type anything. Self education really should be part of the learning process. Ruger Charger is a pistol, I wrote that in ...

Yea, if we're talking an actual (the world is working) fire hose from a truck the pressure is 100-250 PSI which I think could destroy some biters.

Is that an arm support or a butt-stock? I'm afraid unless you have the $200 ATFE tax stamp this looks like an illegal SBR, cool but to borderline for me to want to own it.

Why would you want to know worst optics? Just stay away from BSA and Barska and that should help with the crap list. I have a BSA on my Daisy BB gun, it's accurate for a $5 scope then again if you're dumb enough to expect miracles from a cheap scope you're dumb enough to mount an expensive scope on...

Re: Grappling Hook for BOB

We carried them in the military but they were meant for mine field clearing of trip wire mines. We only carried them on our vehicles. Wow learned something new today, of course I don't see many mine fields in my AO. They would be useful in retrieving your bag if you dropped it in a river or down a ...

Does your state consider the trunk a separate compartment? Mine does so I'm not carrying if it's in the trunk.

Re: Grappling Hook for BOB

Well... I live in Kansas. Nuff said about usefulness in my BOB. For the rest of the states, I can think of a few uses for it but really I think it's not needed. Most places you'd need to climb to are going to already be accessible already (Stairs, ect.) and the risk of falling to your death making i...

Re: BOB Advice

Wow this thread took a very off-topic turnabout. My 2c on greyman, when the "event" happens and you have to bug out it's going to take a while (Days at least) for things to get to the "shooting people from trees" stage. I honestly don't think that will ever happen, robbery: maybe, cold blooded murde...

Re: BOB Advice

I would not consider eliminating food from a BOB. Peanut butter is pretty good. Short on fiber though. I wouldn't entirely eliminate it either but compared to other "Essentials" you can survive without it. The food argument of course would be a totally different discussion ( HINT: Everyone arguing ...

Re: General Aviation Aircraft as BOV

I like this thread. In small aircraft with piston engines most of them will accept quite a bit of normal street gasoline. Mixing it with low lead works great as there is too much lead in 100LL anyway. If you run a plane on straight automotive fuel for too long it can get a little cranky : fouled sp...
