An inch of barrel makes a world of difference in accuracy. When I moved from 4" barrels to 5", my shots at 25 yards went from 1.5" apart to touching. Of course I now only carry with shoulder holsters, now. Meaning I always have to wearing a vest or a long open button up shirt over a t-shirt in the s...

I also recommend the snowboarding pack. It is tough, waterproof, with straps to hold large items that won't fit inside. Plus, you don't look like a military wanna-be walking around with it. Anything you can do to avoid unnecessary attention is a good thing.

Best protection for windows without bars.

I will be buying a house soon, and I plan on it being my own personal fortress. The doors are no problems...neither are weapons and supplies. But the windows must be built tough as nails. Any ideas?

I think if this sort of situation was to happen, over any length of time, someone will be elected leader, and they would decide penalties. No one wants someone in that sort of situation that they could not depend on...then as time went on, tribal societies would form, each governing themselves...no ...

Kevlar will stop a slash, but a stab with force behind it will go right through it. (I know this for a solid fact!) Even spectra will not stop a full power stab. Both should be perfectly acceptable for zombie teeth though. There are new vests and uniforms out there which use a combination of spectra...

I would do the same thing I do when anyone knocks on my door. I would check my security monitor at the front door. Then I would ask who it was over the speaker. If they didn't answer, I'd call the police...unless they appeared to be dead, in which case, I would step out to investigate with my shotgu...

Lasers can be good. I came very close to buying a Crimson Trace Laser Grip until I actually tried one. It felt like thin plastic and I didn't want to trust my gun to it. I recommend trying one out and seeing how it feels, in the holster, on the draw, and how it feels to sight it up; before you actua...

If you are looking for long range accuracy with a shotgun, try a compensated stock and some sort of sights, (other than the bead sights). I have used reflex sights before and they worked pretty damn good on the shotgun. Personally, I use ghost ring sights and they do a great job without spending a t...

The best addition to your arsenal, a dog. I assure you, my dog would stop anyone from prowling in my yard. Plus they act as an early alarm system, and I provide backup.

Now, don't get me wrong. I would much prefer wild game as well. But due to family concerns the place I would outlast any minor problem, (a week or 2), is at my house in the city. There isn't a lot of wild game around my house. Squirrels and birds would be it...

Bloodlust, I am not sure why you want a short barrelled shotgun. If you are looking for something for a smaller person, then cutting down a barrel of a shotgun is the absolute worst thing you can do. A standard shotgun will be fine for you. Pick up a 410 if you are worried about kick. Throw on a pis...

PUC means Practical Unarmed Combat. I studied and taught martial arts for years. PUC is just non-traditional, fighting techniques. I mainly focus on elbows and knees, open hand strikes, and grappling with specific results in mind.

Best Brands and Ideas for Long Term Storage

I am interested in what has the best shelf life for an extended wait. I need some items to stock up in my pantry that look somewhat normal. I have had MREs but am looking for something more normal that I can get at the grocery store. Any ideas? I know Spam and other potted meats are generally good. ...

My understanding is that this is not true. Read in detail here: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/index.htm This has all of the information. As long as you are a legal immigrant, you should be able to purchase a gun. As for joing the police department. You will need to pass a rather serious and long backg...

Just a heads up. You can now shoot shotgun-type shells from your pistol. At the gun store I frequent I noticed they had them in 9, 45, 38, 10 and a couple others. These were loaded with ball bearings and I saw some loaded with tiny flechettes. Besides if you want a big gun in a fairly small package,...

Never make a short-barrelled shotgun yourself. You can always just buy one from some place like Impactarms and have it transferred to you as an AOW class firearm. Making it is completely illegal almost everywhere. As for damage. I have shot some 12" barrelled shotguns and we used breacher rounds. Th...

Heh...I do a lot of shooting. A whole lot! I shoot with FALs, HKs, Shotguns, Revolvers, and Pistols...at least twice a week. If you really want to know the difference in power between these animals, take them to the range together. The joke about the shotgun is: when you take out your pistol and pop...
