Re: Fear The Walking Dead

Saw the first episode. Liked it, and it will be interesting to see how they depict the ZPAW to unfold. Particularly what happens in LA, and whether or not it seems realistic with what one would project.

Great project. I'm jealous. I had an 86 Bronco. Miss that truck. One of my favorite vehicles I've owned.

Re: California Drought

Nothing to do really. "ITS" going to happen. How to ride the storm out is the question ZS addresses. I like to assume I'll make it with on the spot heroic adjustments. Right. But hey...anyone can get lucky. But is the question "how to ride out the storm?" Or how to survive with the new status quo? ...

Re: Between (Netflix Original Series)

I agree with the criticisms above of the show. But I'm an apocalyptic fiction junkie and can manage to enjoy most shows in that vein. I find it entertaining. And the last episode does hint at the possibility of a full apocalypse.

Re: So Long COLT

It does seem a bit ironic that one of the largest makers of ARs goes bust right after the biggest gun boom in US history. You pretty much have to be a moron to do that trick. It's pretty logical. Colt doesn't sell nearly the volume of 1911s that people think, so when the channel started filling up ...

I'd ditch the Victorinox and the little Gerber multitool. For a Leatherman Wingman. It's weighs the least of most of the Leathermans but is still full sized. I think 7 oz. I could be wrong. You could even make the argument for ditching your mora if you had a full size knife blade on your multitool....

I truly hope I do not see this thread continuously updated over the next few years. The drought really does affect all of us whether we can see it or not. Dune was something that popped into my head recently, as well, reading about the drought. Maybe everyone in CA could start wearing stillsuits an...

An interesting article on Bill Gates opinion of pandemic probabilities. "I rate the chance of a nuclear war within my lifetime as being fairly low," says Gates. "I rate the chance of a widespread epidemic, far worse than Ebola, in my lifetime, as well over 50%." http://www.businessinsider.com/bill-...

Re: Your main folder/EDC?

I ended up ordering a Spyderco Tenacious for my EDC. Does anyone have any experience with this knife? It will mostly be used for opening packages and such, so I thought this would work well for that I haven't done any torture tests with mine but it's really an awesome folder. The ergonomics are gre...

Since I didn't need the badge, on the PayPal checkout I selected quantity 2 instead of just 1. Let the extra $10 be an additional donation.

Speaking of which, I was surprised that that there was not a donate option on the home page that I could find.

Re: Your opinion desired! A Few Quick Zombie Questions

Here's a quick response to (2): If you look back at the science fiction of the 60's and 70's (and even earlier), you can see cold war themes pop up in much sci-fi that represents the angst that society felt at the time about the cold war. I think the popularity zombie fiction represents (to some deg...

Re: Worst places to be when TSHTF

Given the current drought trends, California. If the electricity goes off and water can't be pumped, millions of people across the state will be fighting for water in a short matter of time, even in the rural areas. I guess the upside is if one could survive a few weeks of that, the population would...
