Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

But if they're going to hold the guns as evidence, they have to have a warrant to take them, which means you need to have probable cause to believe that each of those specific guns is connected to a specific crime, signed off by a judge. And they can only hold them indefinitely if they can establis...

Ugh....Just noticed PSA has their chrome-lined premium Mid-gas Mock Dissy uppers back in-stock. I had one years ago, but sold it to a buddy who liked it even more than I did. I'm tempted to pick-up another, just for shits-&-giggles. I always thought they looked pretty sharp with a MOE handguard.......

Re: Mexico becoming a failed state?

This isn't scary, it's terrifying. In no small part because it's real. So much for taking me, PaleFace, & my income to Mexico. Or the PI. Have you considered Chile? Not sure if your post is a joke given the news, but in case it isn't: there's major rioting in Santiago currently. Just saw that a few...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

FYI: Learning and bragging time: I got to do some shooting today and decided to bench rest an AK with a Red Dot optic and get some groups. TLDR? Got some good groups & learned a lot about red dot brightness and stock length affecting accuracy. Gun/ammo are about 2MOA, and that is cool. B) All shooti...

From Bloomberg : Mexico Releases Cornered Son of ‘El Chapo,’ Spurring Outrage The confrontation, which left eight dead, occurred in Culiacan, the capital of the western state of Sinaloa. Sinaloa has about the same population as Iowa. Try to picture a running gun battle in the streets with the US Ar...

Re: Mexico becoming a failed state?

You have to wonder, what's the quality of their average police officer with those kinds of casualty rates? I mean, who's applying for the job and getting hired? I'd have to be really, really desperate for a job before I'd apply to be a police officer in Mexico. I'd rather be homeless and living on ...

Re: Half of millennials and 75% of Gen Zers have left their job for mental health reasons

I have had some really hard jobs, but grad school is what gave me several mental health problem which I first self-medicated, then got professional treatment for. It was the roughest spot in my life. A lot happened, and school kicked my butt. I was in a pretty serious program.

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

I've never thought to use my AK for deer hunting. I always figured if I ever went hunting, my Mosin is what I'd take. I like to think I started the SKS hunting craze in this area. Waaay back when I was fourteen, my Dad bought me my first centerfire rifle. He was thinking a Marlin .30-30. I wanted a...

When a dremel is the solution, nothing else will substitute. Did some gun smithing and loving my Magpul furniture. Cut the front sling mount off an AK and mounted the handguard without the sling mount cut-out. Naturally. The rifle feels lighter and handier, but I think that is because I can get my ...

Re: Fortitude Ranch

Somehow or other, wagon trains and Western towns in early America made it all work. I suspect everything would work out once leadership was settled and sensible people were in place. I don't think "raiding" is popular in situations where the opponent has a respectable amount of firepower and a willi...

Not sure what you want to know. Done right a 10/22 can is "Spy movie quiet". Which ones do you prefer and why? I never shot a silencer/suppressor, but the 10/22 takedown integrally suppressed thingy looks super awesome if that's still a thing Those will be quieter and lots shorter than sticking a 6...

I've never used a weapon light. So thank you so much for your detailed reply. I get the part about not wanting a light on all the time. I have a pressure switch on the light. Turning it off and on towards the rear of the weapon seems easy enough. But if it's going to cast a big stupid shadow then n...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

Moab, The only reason I would mount a light near the scope/red dot is to leave the light constantly on while hunting at night. I have seen predator hunting rigs like that. With your military background I'm sure you are well aware you don't want a light constantly on if in a military situation. And t...

Re: Alpenflage clothing dye job?

don't bother, that fabric is some of the worst I've ever seen in surplus. It is a loose, thick weave which is both hot and not very windproof, as well as soaking up water like a sponge and taking forever to dry. The cut and features on them is about as bad as it gets as well, cannot say enough bad ...
