I'm not going to keep typing out the day's menus.
Experiment continuing, still no noticeable ill effects.

Re: Are cleaning wipes safe for dishes?
After a lot of reading, I have concluded that my CO detector is a fussbudget and I am in no danger from my Trangia stove. I shall heed any future warnings it gives me because the source will be far less obvious. Today's menu: Breakfast: same as yesterday. No detectable cleaning wipe flavor in/on any...

Re: Are cleaning wipes safe for dishes?
For this experiment, my Trangia cookset is set up on top of my regular stove. Today while I was boiling the coffee water, I forgot to turn on the exhaust fan. About five minutes after I had finished brewing my coffee and while I was still waiting for the stove to cool down enough for me to put the l...

Re: Are cleaning wipes safe for dishes?
If I'm still not feeling any ill effects after dinner tomorrow night, I may continue the experiment into the week and see what happens if I go for a full eight days, which is the duration of the festival I go to every summer.

Re: Are cleaning wipes safe for dishes?
No ill effects so far. Breakfast: coffee and cereal. The coffee was made with my camping one-cup filter cone . Cereal with rice milk was eaten in the smaller pot from a Trangia 27-2UL cookset , and the spoon from a German four-piece utensil set . The filter cone, coffee mug, Trangia pot and spoon we...

Re: Are cleaning wipes safe for dishes?
Thanks, Duo! Your opinion is enough for me to try it. I'll do an experiment next weekend and eat all my meals from aluminum mess kits with stainless German surplus utensils, cleaned with Seventh Generation wipes and damp paper towels. Results and ill effects to be posted in this thread. http://i.img...

Re: Are cleaning wipes safe for dishes?
7th Gen would be safe in a pinch but I personally wouldn't use them too often for it. I'm not a fan of sodium laurel sulfate (sudsing agent) in anything I use though. It's why we make so many of our own products. I wouldn't use anything other than 7th Gen for dishes though. The other brands have fa...

That's exactly why I'm asking. I'm not a chemist either, but I do have sense enough not to try this with something like Clorox wipes.KJ4VOV wrote: I'm not seeing anything in there that I'd consider especially harmful or unsafe, especially if you're also rinsing. I'm also not a chemist.

Are cleaning wipes safe for dishes?
I have some Seventh Generation multi-surface disinfecting wipes . The packaging says that they are safe for "food preparation surfaces." In a situation where water is limited, would it be safe to clean off dishes and eating utensils with these wipes and then rinse them with a water-dampened paper to...

Re: Canvas vs Synthetic Tent: Canvas Best For The PAW?
With a little mineral spirits and some 100% clear silicone calking you can repair and improve your tent! It's not difficult, and it takes about an hour to complete, and about 2 hours to dry in normal temperatures. As for the rest. I agree with everyone the nylon tent is a temporary shelter. You may...

Re: The Coffee Thread
If I'm working nights, I can drink up to a gallon a day. If I have to sleep at night, my limit is a quart. During the week I got to Tim Horton's on my way to work and get a refill in my 16-oz travel mug. On weekends, I make coffee at home. My current kitchen is the size of a postage stamp and I cann...

Re: Keeping the toilet running while bugging in....
For apartment dwellers and others who have reasons not to dig latrines in their yards, Cleanwaste WAG bags can be used with a bucket, with a toilet, with the folding toilet seat that Cleanwaste also sells, or on their own. The powder in the bags renders the bags safe for disposal in regular trash on...

So something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Klean-Strip-QKGA75003-Denatured-Alcohol-1-Quart/dp/B001FOSX9U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491839076&sr=8-1&keywords=denatured+alcohol Normally <$20 for a quart? Re: The Day of EDC Victory
I went to heat water for my coffee the other day and and the knob came off the kettle lid. The screw that held it on was inside the kettle. I keep a small folding knife in my pajamas, so I used the knife point to screw the knob back on. I don't generally recommend using knives as screwdrivers, but t...

Re: Looking for a business appropriate EDC/GHB bag.
I really lucked out and got mine on sale for around 40% off. There's nothing about it that screams "tacticool" but the daisy chain webbing on the outside could be useful if I needed it. I don't have anything to attach to the MOLLE (or is it PALS? I don't know the difference) webbing inside the fron...

Keep leather work gloves, a headlamp, a portable air compressor that plugs into the car's 12-volt outlet, and a four-way lug wrench in your car. Also a hydraulic floor jack. Scissor jacks aren't worth the metal they're made of.

Costco sells lovely big boxes of either non-latex or latex gloves. I used to include them in my puke-cleaning kit when I drove a cab.
