Of the two, I'd go with the Ruger.

Re: 5.56mm Green Tip M855 Could be banned

Good to see, maybe they can call everyone and tell them to stop buying all the .223 ammo because their just causing another panic. Edit: I guess we can wait until 91Eunozs finishes his backyard..... Because everybody believes press releases from the ATF, right? ;) Sure, they're motives are pure. :l...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

If only there was a device designed to make it easier to fire an AK pistol 1-handed... I believe their letter regarding Sig braces on AKs said that you could still use them as braces, you just had to be careful in what order you assembled them. And obviously, make sure you don't shoulder it. Post a...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Same principle as the, er, what's it called? Reactor Rod? Something like that. Just the Rod slots into the bolt lugs from the back of the barrel, inside the receiver, while a barrel vise would clamp around the barrel in front of the receiver. Be sure to leave enough room for the barrel nut wrench. S...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

A cane tip to prevent the pistol from sliding around on what? The floor? I'd just put some grip tape on the back of the receiver. I think you might just be stuck with the balance as it is, unless you just weld a steel plate directly to the back of the receiver, not protruding too much.

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

Ausher that's a slick pistol, thought about building a similar one many times. So what's up with firing a bare buffer tube from the shoulder these days? Legal still? Hard to tell, IMO. If you follow the logic of the most recent letter I've seen on the subject, then NO, it isn't legal. But the ATF d...

Anybody know for sure? The ATF doesn't even know for sure. They won't know for sure, even after they issue you an opinion letter.

Yeah, I don't see the supply of 40 drying up any time soon. Guess I was making fun of the gun rag's dire predictions, more than anything.

Re: 5.56mm Green Tip M855 Could be banned

LOL JUST KIDDING GUYS WE WERENT GOING TO BAN IT REALLY! I was going to say, "That's not what it says.", but that pretty much is what the ATF's press release says. It's just the TTAG author adding their spin to it, that confused me. Friggin' agenda-driven "journalism". To crypto's statement, I would...

Re: 5.56mm Green Tip M855 Could be banned

They're gonna let this panic rage for a bit ('cause you know this announcement isn't gonna get the airplay of the original rumor), then announce that they have gotten approval, and banned it after all, starting a new wave of panic.

Man, I love being an optimist.

It would be kinda kewl if someone made a new version of the old Ramline AR 15/Mini 14 combo magazine. http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af242/boomslang45/Ramline-AR15-Mini14-AR180-combo-magazine.jpg Toss in AR180 compatibility, and Thermold's 30/45 capacity feature, and you'd really have somethin...

Assuming you're not allowed to open carry at work, etc., I'd just stick candybars in all the mag pouches and holsters, and wear that thing everywhere. :awesome:

Re: 5.56mm Green Tip M855 Could be banned

A big problem I think is that there is no real source for 'news'. Everything is owned by someone with an agenda (which is fine, whatevs) and it would be just fucking dandy if there was some way to get straight information about what is happening in any situation without speculation, inference, bias...

Re: 5.56mm Green Tip M855 Could be banned

Walked into the LGS yesterday, looking for 22TCM, and they were all sold out. Er ma gerd! Ammo Panic! Eh, more likely they never had 22TCM on the shelf to begin with. Their selection of 223 seemed about normal, maybe what I was perceiving as a run on all 223/556 was just the cheap stuff on teh inter...

Re: Source for 577/450 ammunition?

Got any buddies that reload? Maybe (just maybe) a local gunsmith? They could probably was through all the hoopla, and determine if the torches, etc. are really necessary, or how difficult reloading these cartridges would be to add to your skill set. May be able to get them to reload a few rounds for...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms rela

On the bright side, the 20rd Thermold mags that just showed up turned out to be N.O.S. from the "assault weapons ban" era, and are marked "LAW OR GOV'T USE ONLY". Which I thought was kinda cool, considering in ordered them for a retro-ish A2 build I'm putting together.

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms rela

After reading about the 855 debacle spreading over to all .223/5.56 ammo, I panic bought me some 22TCM. Fake edit: currently the ad warns people that "This is not 22lr, and will not function in 22lr firearms." Guess they'll have to amend that to " This is neither 22lr, nor 223/556, and will not func...

Re: 5.56mm Green Tip M855 Could be banned

If it's (edit: the panic buying) restricted to M855, that won't bother me any. Certainly won't affect my "SHTF preps". But if the baah...baaahs start hoarding all .223/5.56, that will get annoying. Edit: again: .gov taking away another source of ammo is bothersome, but not to the extent some people ...
