Re: 2012 Winter Mock Bug Out Contest Entry Thread

Woods walker, Darkside and etc: thanks for the comments. Wow, that was fun. I didn't want to overdo the pics so left out the deer/ turkey tracks. If only fifty of us did the Bugout does that mean everyone else was eaten by zombies? Very alarming. :)

Re: 2012 Winter Mock Bug Out Contest Entry Thread

I am kind of unsure regarding this whole bugout concept. It's very difficult to imagine a situation so dire that we would have to abandon our home on foot. I live on eight acres in a gated equestrian community (there's a lot you don't know about me). In case of a hurricane or an undead uprising we w...

Re: Any recipes for what's available from the Mormon Cannery

It's all going to be bland bland bland without a few key additions. (salt, vanilla, cinnamon, garlic powder, chili powder, curry powder, go hog wild and add something tomato!) Dietary shock is going to be a real threat. My food storage consist mainly of wheat, beans and rice. Plus salt, sugar, and ...

Yes, I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We like zombies, too. The most accurate info I have indicates that Orlando is the closest cannery to you. I will try to find out if any are in the construction or planning stages.

Duod, the canneries are available to everyone and, again, at bulk cost. They are an amazing resource. I (we) hope you share your experience there with us

Re: Any recipes for what's available from the Mormon Cannery

Hmmm...I always thought they carried more variety than that. Shows what I know. Your right, FM. Basic food storage ia augmented by whatever is available locally. If you are lucky enough to have a wet cannery nearby then Beef Stew and Chili may be in inventory. Our canneries are professionally equip...

Re: Best state to be a Prepper in?

Utah. We have lots of canning facilities, for both wet and dry foods, that are available to anyone who wants to build a food storage. Second Amendment friendly. Large deer, stable economy and engaging terrain. I live in Florida now but miss Utah people, they are just friendly and down to earth.

Re: EDC: Preparedness versus obsession

Has anyone ever had to 'rehab' their habits a bit? Yes! The distinction between neurosis and psychosis is that a neurosis can change your behavior while a psychosis controls it i.e., I have a thing about spiders so I might let someone else take the lead when trail riding horses but I don't stay off...

Thanks, Gambino. Are you and I the exception or are there a bunch of us in Jax? Is there a chapter here?

It's funny how so many of my google searches bring me to this site. There is an incredible amount of information on a wide variety of subjects. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints so preparedness is, for me, a commandment. Kinda like "Thou shall not kill" or "Thou shalt ...
