Re: Wilderness medicine conference review

They said Hyfin specifically? That's strange. Did they mean just large conclusive ( non- vented) ? They more than likely did and Hyfin was what they were issued. Only 1 large Hyfin comes per pack. HALO comes with two. Another problem with the Hyfin is if they sit in the heat, they can't be removed f...

Re: My new kit designation: Personal Medical Emergency Bag-P

Wow, you guys go to the ER a lot..........aaaaaa, good idea on the bags as I hate the Hospital myself and anything that makes the stay easier would be welcome. On another note, could any of those trips have been avoided? I mean they have fast tracks and other options now to keep folks out of the ER ...

You don't wanna know a casspir dude, I have spent hours and hours in them. They are the grand-daddy to all them new fangled vehicles. Try being in there with the PKM gunner going loco up above, the vehicle tearing thru the African bush, a T-55 ripping main gun rounds out, and katushka rockets scream...

Re: Post Apocalyptic Cleaver.

Relax about the "prop" assessment. You posted for a reason and are getting feedback, that's it, that's all. I'm sure it took you time to make it. No one has said it didn't take time and effort. But all the answers to YOUR initial post have been honest assessments............Saying that, I'm sure you...

Re: First "Stab" At Vehicle First Aid Kit

I only have slight experience with NOLS. I sent a lot of young EMT's there, but I'd say, look into the instructor backgrounds in the other places if you can or try to hook up with someone that has taken a class at your target place and can give you a students opinion on it. If you had said, "Hey, Ia...

Re: Ukraine unrest

I lived the Luhansk for three months. My job isn't important but I was on the contact line, the line between the UA and the LPR every day, never took a day off. Mine fields at least once a week usually recovering people that made poor decisions or escorting people into no-mans-land to meet with othe...

You don't need to be "on the map" dude, you've already arrived. Just keep doing what you're doing, putting out quality work knowing that people that really need a tool can count on one made by you. Who can say that things they have made with their hands have actually made a difference in the war? Th...

Wow, cool, you got the big ones. Learn about burns though, read. Usually a burn that size comes with other injuries......Remember, you want to be a "Medical Detective".......it's the only way to be thorough and effective. The rest of the stuff, cool, sounds good. Yea, the VS-17 is good. I used to co...

Re: First "Stab" At Vehicle First Aid Kit

Cool. A quick break down? I'm guessing they are the small condiment size Water-Jel Dressings? Only use that stuff on burns less than the size of your palm or smaller. Be careful, burns rarely come in one degree. It's usually worse where the skin contacted the source, and can radiate out in decreasin...

What he's saying dude, is that he designed and made his own custom (obviously) B.O.B that's about (at least) the quality of any of the high-speed-major-cost gear out there............What he's also showing us is that his skill is definitely improving to the point where, he as a one-man-shop, can mak...

BTW, I think they also mean, their SERVICE did the calls......shit, if they did 100 calls after midnight in one day, he's either got a sleigh with reindeer? or Mr. Scott, and a transporter.

Hey, BTW, your making more of an effort with a kit than a lot of the old paramedics that I know. They don't have anything like that. Probably because they are a bunch of burned out clowns, but, either way, Good on you man....

Re: First "Stab" At Vehicle First Aid Kit

A thermometer is not a huge deal. Your kit looks really, really good. I would focus more on environmental medicine aimed towards the climates you seem to operate in and beef the kit up in those areas. I honestly have carried a thermometer maybe, two times in 30 years? Use your signs / symptoms / chi...

The Keens are good boots, very comfortable, never had a blister or hot spot. The only hitch is that they only last about 8 months of hard use. They start to separate and leak like sieves. Been through about 8 pairs of most models. I am trying a new pair of Danners, Crag Hoppers I believe? we will se...
