Re: Civilian VS Military Gear - Pics included

If you want to keep any of your issued gear, it's best to buy a duplicate item at a surplus store off post. Almost as a rule it will be less expensive than paying CIF. And you get to cherry pick the best one.

Re: Logger cuts toes off with pocket knife after foot is pin

That is some hardcore shit...I too wonder the circumstances of the trapped foot, but I don't think he would've done if it wasn't last ditch. Only 30 minutes though?

HK G3 with sniper scope. First I'd climb a tree, then I'd bait the dinos...and here's where the plan gets masterful. You gotta SNIPE the t-rexs through the eye. Jurassic Park tree sniper FTW!

Re: Military Service

+1 to what GD4 said. I don't speak to anyone from basic and really had a hard time remembering my battle's name. Plus, when you hit big army, you get smoked just for talking about basic haha.

Re: Full Battle Rattle?

As soon as you put mag pouches on a concealable armor carrier it becomes approximately 1,000 times less concealable. On another note, awhile back I too picked up a tactical vest with both 3a and plates. As soon as I purchased a R.A.C.K to accompany it I laid it out all dress right dress and thought ...

Good luck finding an A-team style factory folder, and if you do it'll cost as much as colt AR. 70$ mags, shit is crazy.

Re: How do you mark your magazines?

Ranger plates on my usgi 30 rounders plus four silver sharpie dots. I've never had to look for the dots though, I've never seen anyone else with ranger plates on their alum mags. Anyone that I've met that goes through the trouble just buys pmags and put em on those.

There isn't one MRE that I won't eat. I love the things. Although salsa verde is an absolute must for the omelette. Eaten them for a week straight and still prefer it to field food...ugh.

Re: Opinions Wanted on Various Multicam Cammies/Utilities

I don't really mind the acu cut. Probably cause I spend 75% of my existence in them. I think the only improvements are button closures on the cargo pockets, a reinforced crotch, and some built in insect repellant that supposedly lasts 25 washes.

Re: Multicam: Most Usable Cammies/Utilities?

Since my prep budget is almost non existant, I have only one set. They're genuine acu's in ocp. I like em just fine and they're slightly better than normal acu's. Like woodland, I think it looks better when they get alittle faded and beat.

Re: Monkey Attack

I read in a book about taijutsu that ninja's used a devastating technique (before people wore jeans I guess) called "monkey steals peach" which caused death rapidly due to blood loss.

Re: Mom's Journal of the Zombie Years

As someone that surely knows her better than I (which is not at all), I will take your word for it Mr. B. It's not just that I'm upset about running out of story, to be completely honest, and I know this is stupid, I was becoming as attached to our Mother Hen as much as I was to the Sanctuary crew. ...

Re: Mom's Journal of the Zombie Years

Oh man...I rarely post and mostly absorb. But what an amazing tale. Read it cover to cover forsaking all other pleasures. The last 100 or so pages I was uninterrupted as I sat here on battalion staff duty. All I can say is how uncharacteristic the final portions were with what we have learned about ...

Re: Lessons learned from an 18 mile March

Wore (smuggled/hidden) compression shorts on every march during basic except one. People kept talking about how great "commando" was for the heat so I tried it on an 8 miler. The only time in my infantry career that my butt chafed. And boy did it, finally went away after about 2 weeks. Compression s...

Re: FNG from Georgia

Tons of stupidity round these parts. Not the least of which are the unit names, Battle boars, what a joke. How are you liking Hinesville? And for the record, I'm pretty sure flipping burgers trumps E on the 1st and the 15th. But I like my job and for all i know I might work for you so I'll shut up h...
