I'm asking our TX ZS'ers for a boots-on-the-ground SITREP please. I'm getting lots of contradiction from my channels.

Thank you.

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

Odessa mayor was considering making wearing a mask mandatory and fine folks who don't 1,000 dollars per infraction, but I'm not sure if he's going to go through with it or not. My guess is probably not because he's facing a ton of backlash from pretty much everyone there. I'm pretty certain the gov...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

My county had its first death from COVID-19 today. Gentleman in his mid-40s apparently suffered some major complications this morning, according to his family. Whether or not the complications were a result of COVID-19 is still up in the air since the family and the county are awaiting autopsy resu...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

If you see a vaccination record hanging around, let me know. That's kind of also necessary (and will probably be requested from the kids' school). I thought you home-schooled. Like Ani. Planning to do virtual public school this fall. We've never home-schooled before. Since it's still technically pu...

'tis that time of year. Raptor, if you're up to it, I'd be very interested in hearing what you have planned differently as a result of this experience and changes in technology. Technology has not really changed my plans with the exception of backup communication in the event that the area code goe...

In the category of "Oh, yeah, I guess I'd probably need that"... We had to go hunting for the kids' birth certificates the other day. We now have an actual filing system (and a portable file box that be put in the car easily) ordered in hopes of not having to go through 25 bajillion piles of papers...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

Our area jumped from 4-5 new cases per day to 26. I can literally watch where the people work and see the circle closing in around us based on people we know who may be in contact with them. Went to Lowe's, Natural Grocers, and the auto store this morning. Practically nobody who didn't work there wa...

Things I'm pondering at the moment: I should invest in a few gas cans and Stabil. My car can make it to my parents' house on a single tank of gas....IF it's full. I should also be keeping my tank closer to full than not. I need to figure out BOBs for everybody, including the in-laws who will be high...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

Question: Is this their effort to get funds to people who haven't gotten them from the first round of stimulus payments, or a whole new thing? This is from the first stimulus package. The second direct stimulus package one has not been drafted much less passed yet. Factoid: The first one was ~$2.5 ...

Re: When the rich become preppers, it's time to worry

I'm not sure that a bunker is a viable long-term solution for many of these millionaires. Sure, it might work for a year, but are they planning for after that?

I'd be looking more at soft skills - learn how to blend in, how to talk to regular folk without them thinking "they ain't from 'round here."

Would something like this work for disinfecting money (cash & checks, some in paper envelopes)? The accountant at our church is nervous about everything being counted after it's received in the offering plate. I'm trying to figure out a solution that doesn't a) use up valuable disinfectant spray, b)...

Apparently its not just the controllers, the consoles, and NIntendo Switches are also in short supply. They are a lifesaver and mental health stimuli during lock-downs, marshal law, tyrannical oppression and zombie hordes roaming outside your door. You just have to prep it with a little solar, batt...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

Texas is back open (sort of). There's a schedule to what can reopen and how, so it's not totally back to 100 percent normal, but at least some semblance of normalcy is happening. The first wave of reopenings includes restaurants for dine in patrons (with some restrictions), salons/barbers (which is...

Re: Hail, Hail ice rocks

We live in west Texas. Hail damage probably happens every other year around here. Some of the storms spawn tornadoes, some don’t. Roofs are a 5-10 year thing, you plan to have to replace every 10 years due to hail damage, not every 25-30 when the roof wears out. A lot of cars got totaled last year, ...
