Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

So, we had been informed that two patients in my MIL's care facility had tested positive (asymptomatic). My wife just spent two weeks there visiting her mom. We were initially told that the patients were in isolation. Last night we get a phone call from the care facility giving us an update, becaus...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

Wait - did your MIL test positive while your wife was there? How long did it take them to tell you that it was your MIL after they said there were 2 patients? She tested positive before my wife got there. We didn't find out until 4 days after my wife came home. She was there two weeks and visited h...

I saw this "do 100 burpees a day for 30 days" challenge and accepted it. I gotta work on that Apocalypse Bod and I want ALL the ladies to admire my fine body in those assless chaps. So.... Let's do the CrossFit ones with the jumping and the push-ups and all that .... Got 50 done and I hit a physica...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

The wife and I will be voting in person this year. The state of Virginia, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that this year I'm not handicapped enough to qualify for a mail-in ballot, despite previously issuing them to me. Can't you just tell them you'll be out of state at the time of the election...

Re: JeeperCreeper bought a house

Your mentioned power tools. I bought a Ryobi 40 volt cordless trimmer and spare battery a few weeks ago. I have about a one acre yard with lots of stuff to trim and it seems to get the job done for me. I also like the other attachment options available. I will likely get the tiller attachment in a ...

Re: 2020 Hurricane Season

I talked the generator over with dad, and the eventual decision was to buy one if it becomes pertinent. At some point I'll get a travel trailer and probably want a generator anyway, so it wouldn't ultimately be a once-use item; just need to be prepped for storage. However, I can avoid the expense f...

I just got a big thank you from a cashier for paying with exact change. I'm guessing they're running low and people are being cranky with them about it.

Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread

I know someone who was tested, got a negative result, and was told there's a 30% chance it's a false negative. Anybody finding good numbers on the actual accuracy of the rapid testing? Very, if done right, but doing it right is hard. The swabs have to be jammed way on up the nose or down the throat...

A very tiny study of gargling with Betadine, Listerine, tap water, or nothing, for those diagnosed with Stage 1 (<5 days of illness) COVID-19. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04410159 Results under the "Study Results" tab. I'm looking at the results - I'm not seeing where anybody developed a...

I want to cheer on anyone using whatever cash or prepaid card methodology works for them to keep their finances in order. If it works best for your habits and personality, it's the best way to do it. For others that do well maintaining finances while using credit cards, I strongly agree with Raptor...

Re: Coin shortage?

I went to Walmart this morning. They no longer accept cash through the self-checkouts. You have to go to a register to pay with cash.

I guess that ends my getting anything groceries there, as we always use cash for groceries so I don't go over budget too much.

There's also that fact that I was holding onto my stash of change at home because I couldn't take it into the bank lobby to turn it into paper bills. I'm sure I wasn't the only one. I think I had $28 when I took it in, which is about as much as I'd normally have in a month or so, because I haven't b...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

*snip* By the register they had a sign saying that rice, water and medical supplies could not be returned. When asked, the clerk emphatically said that they have had a lot of people try to return these items. First of all, I am kind of shocked that people would try to return stuff that they can pro...

The same channel would contradict it's self in the very next story it aired. Thank you for the SITRE...

I'm asking our TX ZS'ers for a boots-on-the-ground SITREP please. I'm getting lots of contradiction from my channels. Thank you. Which part of Texas? Where ever people are. I'm just looking for 1st hand reports. Out in Midland, most people aren't wearing masks. Haven't really heard much about how t...
