Re: Lifestyle Changes for Health

A severe health issue I had till a few years ago was a fat deficient diet. I've since learned that most people are much healthier and lose weight faster with a high fat diet. The food pyramid I was taught in school is not healthy for most people. You might want to look into whether going low fat re...

Re: Lifestyle Changes for Health

Oh yeah, drinks. I drink a ton of fizzy waters and Dr. Zevia. I keep a kettle in my office and drink tea off and on (by which I mean, I didn't put water in it this week, but some weeks I'm drinking 3-4 cups a day).

Re: Food Insecurity 2019

The only thing left in the canning section at HEB were plastic lids (which were luckily what I needed) and some of the stuff for making jellies. Not even any freezer jars, I don't think.

For reference, I eat keto For breakfast: I have coffee with 20g Vital Proteins cow collagen powder and heavy cream. SweetLeaf Sweet Drops (stevia) if I want it sweeter or a flavor. For lunch: Leftovers. Any time there's actually leftovers, they get frozen in small containers in the freezer so I can ...

Re: Food Chat - Dinner conversation anyone?

Man, I haven't had good deer jerky since I was in high school. I don't hunt, so making my own is not an option and the commercially available stuff has to be mixed with beef or pork due to some law and that just overpowers the venison flavor. We've bought it from the processors before when people f...

The MIL won't be here till January, we are still in negotiations at this point. I won't win, but I'm putting up a good fight, I don't really like her, not one bit and the feeling is mutual. Thankfully it seems Lil will be going to several bases that I enjoy going too, and I managed to get a trip to...

This isn't an attack on a house of worship, but on a pastor who heads an organization that works in China. https://www.newswest9.com/article/news/local/west-texans-take-stand-against-those-protesting-bob-fu/513-9a5d39f3-1f31-4ea2-b2e0-5fd893c958b9 Dozens of protestors have been outside of Fu's house...

Re: What are you doing to strengthen your immune system?

Nearly two years ago I started taking nicotinamide riboside (NR), which is an NAD+ precurser. I learned about it from listening to Dr David Sinclair talk about his research on NMN. Every spring my allergies hit and I'm fighting off sinus and lung infections. It commonly turns into pneumonia. This y...

Re: My Job, My Hell...

Sitting on my desk was a NIB Zev-09. In order to get this very, very nice pistol, I have to agree to let Lil's Mom come stay with us for a year. Honestly I'm considering tell them (Lil, Bec, Sam, Noona and the Wicked Witch of the West) all to pack sand. I don't think the bribe is worth the price. W...

Re: Food Chat - Dinner conversation anyone?

I've tried fruit preserves a couple times in my life, but I wasn't a fan. In other food related news, I came up with a recipe I call "Lazy Bastard Hamburger Steak". Basically, you take frozen hamburger patties, heat them up on a George Foreman grill, and then put some brown gravy (either from...

ThermaCare wraps. As someone who regularly gets in the car when it feels like an oven and turns on the seat heaters for her back, they're fabulous.

We still have lots of blank spaces on the shelves in our local stores - especially if you're looking for specialty items (like gluten-free food). When I find them, I'm buying more than I usually would as they might not have any when I go back for the next week's shopping.

The current average life expectancy is 78.8. If you watch ZDoggMD, he goes through those numbers. His ...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

2 thoughts on this: 1. I’ve seen info stating that in places that had an exceptionally light flu season, COVID is killing more people - basically, the ones that probably would have died of the flu had they caught it this year. 2. This is what happens when what drugs (and supplements, and vitamins) c...

That is a good video. And commendably apolitical. One thing I'd add regarding City Prepper's suggestion that Election Day might be a bad time to get away from your urban home for a few days: have enough food, clothing and other supplies (including a cash reserve) to last you for at least double the...

You hit some great points. The RV won't let us do a loft. Depending on how the loft is done it can yeild 50%-100% more square footage. That is attractive. And the tiny house can be better insulated. Actually...I ran across some with RVs with a loft. They aren't huge, but they're at least extra slee...

Stash it. Until things go back to normal, anything extra is getting stashed.
